JOB SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify and test aircraft engines within the Aviion Classificion and Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). The AVCRAD is an industrial facility th provides sustainment base maintenance in support of regional Army Nional Guard (ARNG) Aviion assets and supports field maintenance in accordance with ARNG Aviion priorities. The AVCRAD maintenance activities ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and Ste missions. In addition, the AVCRAD performs Nional Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Meriel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the Nional Guard Bureau (NGB). This position performs maintenance, removal, installion, inspection, troubleshooting, repair and testing of aircraft engines.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
This is an excepted position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Connecticut Army Nional Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning engines utilizing all available test equipment to determine degree of disassembly, repair, modificion, and adjustment needed. Performs periodic and special inspections on engines. Performs engine trim in accordance with applicable directives. Evalues justificion documention for unsisfactory item reports and practicality of proposed modificion requests. Removes and disassembles aircraft engines in order to perform necessary maintenance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works indoors and outdoors in inclement weher and on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces, work stands and engine test stands. Subject to hazards from toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids such as aviion fuels, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, high levels of noise and blast from turbine, turbo-prop engines, and auxiliary power units.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing 50 pounds or over. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Nional Guard Membership is required. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience th has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operions and make prescribed modificions to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specificions, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS
Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision. Experience which demonstres the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade.
WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS
Experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modificions to aircraft engines, subassemblies and components.
WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS
Experience performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operions and making prescribed modificions to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge in installing, removing, opering, and repairing a variety of conventional and modified aircraft engines and accessory systems in order to troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and/or test different types of engines in aircraft test cells, maintenance shops, and on the flight line. Knowledge of repair methods, degrees of disassembly necessary, and the extent of rework required before reassembly. Knowledge of principles of electrical, electronics, heing, refrigerion, pneumics, hydraulics, internal combustion engines and small gas turbines as applies to powered ground support equipment and use of applicable technical publicions, blueprints, diagrams, merial, and maintenance control procedures.

This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examinion prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license for the ste in which they live or are principally employed.

Prediced upon qualificions, individual could be hired the WG-10 grade. An individual selected for this position the lower grade will progressively be advanced to WG-10 upon achievement of required qualificions without further competition.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
Training the Nional Guard Professional Educion Center (NGPEC) is a mandory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or terminion of full-time employment unless extenuing circumstances preclude course tendance.
