Duties Help As an Aircraft Mechanic Supervisor, WS-8852-11 you will: Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operions. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, merials and equipment required to do the work. Participe in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload da, estimes, informion on staffing needs, and recommendions as the scheduling of projected work. Assign tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct subordines on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Review work in progress or on completion. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investige work reled problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operions controlled by other supervisors. Assure th equipment and meriel is available when needed. Coordine work with other units. Recommend and participe in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedule and approve leave of subordines. Set performance requirements and make formal and informal performance appraisals. Determine training needs of subordines and arrange for its accomplishment. Counsel employees on problems. Adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representives. Take informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initie proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Work to achieve the objectives of Government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relions. Promote the participion of subordines in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensure th regulions governing safety and housekeeping are observed with approprie protective clothing and equipment being utilized. Maintain production reports and records. Periodically review position descriptions of subordines for currency and accuracy. Initie the detailing of subordines to positions other than their own. Initie or participe in review and improvement of work methods, organizional feures, and the structuring of positions to elimine unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Perform the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed. Implement regulory safety requirements and ensure th subordines wear approprie safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for and participe in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operion, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training which demonstres th the candide has the ability to organize assignments for subordines, estime merial and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstres the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situions.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
: Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires modere to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 80 pounds such as generors, engine starters, and ejection ses with the assistance of weight handing equipment or other workers.

: Works inside and outside, in inclement weher, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperure and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuing metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps; engine noise, he, blast, intake suction, roting propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuing devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
