SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to serve as a Pneudraulic Svstem Mechanic within a fuel systems shop responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of aircraft fuel cells, wer injection, entidetonant (ADI), and inflight refueling systems. Utilizing extensive knowledge of fuel systems maintenance practices and procedures, incumbent troubleshoots the systems and determines extent and tvpe of preventive and/or repair maintenance required and performs all necessary repairs, installion, and operional checks. Utilizing electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schemics and technical publicions, determines extent and type of preventive and/or repair maintenance required. Connects power sources, and using cockpit controls, gauges and additional precision instruments, performs operional and functional checks of inflight refueling, single point refueling and fuel transfer systems and reled valves, pumps, switches, selectors, and control devices. Performs leak check of aircraft fuel systems by visual inspection or by removal of panels and dye tracing fuel leaks. Diagnoses and overhauls fuel accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examining parts for corrosion, scrches, cracks or other damage. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions such as ORI, IG, and DE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience or training which demonstres your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isole malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specificions, and test calibrion procedures in performing the work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Must have least 18 months of experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricing fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience th demonstres the ability to interpret technical manuals, specificions and publicions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works inside and outside, in very confining spaces, in inclement weher, on icy and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperure and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuing metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doers and flaps; engine noise, he blast, intake suction: roting propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage, cartridge actuing devices: liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents. Physical efforts involve climbing. stooping, standing, stretching, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires modere to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing from 20 to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds. Subject to the dangers of skin irrition from aviion fuels, lubricants and solvents.
