Job Description
The mission of the Flight Test Facility (FTF) is to provide airborne platforms in support of specific research and development programs at Lincoln Laboratory, Department of Defense (DoD) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). FTF research aircraft are flown, maintained, and managed by a professional staff of pilots, certified maintenance technicians, and administrative personnel. The FTF's first priority is safety of flight. All flight operations are conducted by using procedures and equipment that meet or exceed all FAA requirements. The FTF is an approved FAA Part 145 Repair Station and currently operates and maintains seven highly modified aircraft. Job Description Candidate must demonstrate technical skills and expertise in aircraft systems (i.e., aircraft structure, landing gear, flight controls and surfaces, anti-icing, pneumatic, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems), conduct operational testing, troubleshooting and repair. Is responsible for maintaining aircraft to FAA airworthiness standards and manufacturers' technical data, services and maintains aircraft and ground support equipment. Candidate conducts preflight and post flight inspections, operates unique test equipment, and installs and removes specialized equipment and components. Complies with Repair Station FOD Program, Tool Control Program, Repair Station Manual and all safety regulations. Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively. Position reports to the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor of our FAA Part 145 Repair Station. Typical weekly schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00
- 3:30.
Requirements Education and Experience:
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant license required.
- Individual shall be a graduate high school or equivalent and accredited civilian aircraft technician school or military equivalent.
- Candidate must be actively engaged in the maintenance, inspection and alteration of aircraft and aircraft products per FAA regulation i.e., Part 145, 91.
- Experience with turbine (jet or prop) pressurized aircraft with a minimum of 5 years' experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Should be familiar with Part 145 Repair Station practices to include FOD Control, Tool Control and Human Factors training.
- Gulfstream aircraft (GIV) experience highly desired.
- DE Havilland Twin Otter aircraft (DHC-6-300), SAAB 340B aircraft and Cessna 206 aircraft experience is also considered.
- Experience with Safran, Honeywell or Sundstrand APU's recommended.
- Desirable but not required to have completed advanced training and have experience in engine run/taxi, sheet metal, NDT, avionics and/or advanced troubleshooting techniques.
- Individual must be a US citizen and able to obtain a security clearance.
Hiring Range:
$44.63- $49.
