Job Description

Avionics Technician (Level
III & IV
) Hagerstown, MD | Contract-to-Hire | Defense & ISR Aircraft Modifications We are seeking experienced Avionics Technicians to support a specialized aircraft modification program involving ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) systems integration on military and government aircraft. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term stability, extensive hands-on avionics work, and the chance to contribute to mission-critical aviation programs. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain avionics systems and components. Perform aircraft wiring installations, modifications, and repairs in accordance with applicable regulations and technical data. Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals. Route, terminate, and test aircraft wiring systems. Support aircraft modification, upgrade, and integration activities. Maintain tools, test equipment, and technical documentation. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Typically 8+ years of avionics installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or modification experience. Valid Driver's License. Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and engineering drawings.
Advanced skills in:
Aircraft wiring installation and repair Wire routing Soldering Crimping Connector termination Must provide personal tools in good working condition. Required Connector Experience Candidates should have hands-on experience terminating and troubleshooting:
COAX CIR-MIL RJ-45
Network D-SUB Preferred Qualifications:
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
FCC GROL
Ability to travel as required Experience in Aerospace & Defense, Department of Defense, NASA, or military aviation environments Familiarity with avionics test equipment, including oscilloscopes and pitot-static equipment Experience with TRIAX, QUADRAX, Fiber Optic assemblies, or El Ochito RF connectors Preferred Aircraft Experience Experience on any aircraft platform will be considered. Candidates with experience on rotary-wing, regional jet, commercial transport, or military aircraft are highly encouraged to apply. Work Environment Hangar-based aircraft modification facility Exposure to aircraft maintenance environments, including noise, chemicals, and outdoor conditions Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and repetitive hand movements Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as required Why Join Us?
