Job Description

West Metro Aviation is seeking a certified Inspector Authorization Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic with at least 4 years of leadership experience to join our growing team in Buffalo, Minnesota. Key Responsibilities:
Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with FAA regulations and company quality standards. Exercise Inspector Authorization (IA) privileges, including approving aircraft for return to service and conducting annual and progressive inspections. Lead and mentor maintenance team members, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to best practices. Ensure all work is properly documented with accurate logbook entries and compliance records. Diagnose mechanical and structural issues efficiently and implement corrective actions. Maintain strict attention to detail to uphold "air show-level" quality standards. Coordinate with customers, pilots, and team members to communicate aircraft status, findings, and timelines. Promote and enforce a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Assist in workflow planning, scheduling, and shop efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications:
Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required. Active Inspector Authorization (IA) required. Minimum of 4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an aviation maintenance environment. Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, inspection procedures, and maintenance documentation. Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and maintain high-quality standards under deadlines. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across a variety of aircraft systems. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members. High level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Experience with general aviation aircraft.
