Duties Help WG-10: This position is loced in an Army Aviion Support Facility (AASF) or Army Aviion Flight Activity (AAFA) with responsibility for the peformance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contaminion checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Using a variety of methods involving test equipment, visual checks and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determines the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into the aircraft. WG-11: This position is loced in an Army Aviion Support Facility (AASF) or Army Aviion Flight Activity (AAFA) with responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designion of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft. Performs Crew Chief duties with full maintenance responsibility for assigned aircraft. Number of aircraft to be assigned to an incumbent is predetermined by taking into account such factors as the complexity, size, and maintenance requirements of aircraft, the unit mission requirement to have Flight Mechanic or Flight Engineer on board during missions, etc. Diagnoses problems with all aircraft system and components, perform required repairs and accomplishes required preventive maintenance. Accompanies pilot during flights to loce discrepancies th are not evident during ground operion. May perform duties as a crew member (Flight Mechanic or Flight Engineer) during assigned missions on aircraft with th requirement WG-12: This position is loced in the Logistics function of an ARNG Army Aviion Support Facility (AASF). The AASF provides Aviion Unit Maintenance (AVUM), Aviion Intermedie Maintenance (AVIM), and aviion maintenance training for supported units. The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operional readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviion unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operional readiness. Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documention for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weher and night operions. Works with, coordines and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participes in mission preparion and recovery operions. Oversees installion of equipment for special missions. Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Controls and performs work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, merial and personnel. Coordines with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control on maintenance requirements to aircraft th require adjustment to changes in operional requirements. Observes and inspects performance of other workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publicions, directives and local policy. : Experience or training th has provided the candide with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificions. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modificion. Experience coordining the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. For the WG12: The Crew Chief occupies a significant role in the military mission of the Army Nional Guard AASF. The incumbent is recognized as the technical expert and authority in ensuring th complex military aircraft are prepared to carry out the day-to-day training Mission. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining the equipment for wartime eventualities. The incumbent understands the technical theory and operional characteristics, not only of airframe, but also of mission systems peculiar to the unit aircraft and assigned mission. The Crew Chief knows the theory and operion of aircraft systems to troubleshoot malfunctions and problems, and determine the extent of repairs and involvement of others in expediting the aircrafts return to comb ready stus. Skill and knowledge is required to resolve problems and devise solutions when aircraft are not home stion, or a locion where the full complement of support equipment, supplies, parts, tools and maintenance personnel are not available. It is the intention of NGB/AVS the incumbent has the following qualificions: Must have three years experience and/or approprie training in such functions as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and reled ground support equipment. Must have experience and/or approprie training th would demonstre a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and components in electrical, fuel, hydraulic, environmental and mechanical principles. Insures proper work sequence planning and review, and a thorough understanding of technical orders, maintenance regulions and management opering procedures. The incumbent must possess or be eligible for award of the approprie security clearance for this position.
