Job Description

Summary The Line Service Supervisor oversees daily line service operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and professional aircraft handling in support of flight operations and maintenance activities. This role provides front-line leadership to line service technicians, manages ramp and hangar operations, coordinates aircraft movements, and ensures compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company standards. The supervisor serves as a key customer-facing representative for flight crews, maintenance teams, and visiting aircraft operators. Essential Functions Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate line service technicians. Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when needed. Conduct daily shift briefings and ensure effective communication between teams. Maintain adequate staffing levels for normal and inclement weather operations. Oversee aircraft towing, parking, marshalling, choking, and repositioning activities. Ensure safe use of all ground support equipment (GSE). Manage hangar stacking, aircraft storage, and utilization of ramp space. Coordinate aircraft movements with maintenance, dispatch, and airport operations Supervise and assist with aircraft fueling, defueling, fuel sampling, and quality control. Ensure adherence to fuel handling standards, environmental requirements, and documentation procedures. Train personnel in proper fuel safety and contamination prevention practices. Enforce ramp safety rules, PPE requirements, FOD control, and equipment parking procedures. Conduct incident investigations, safety audits, and corrective action plans. Maintain compliance with FAA, OSHA, EPA, airport authority, and Spartan Education safety regulations. Support emergency response procedures including spills, storms, and aircraft events. Serve as the primary point of contact for CFI / Student, flight crews, and maintenance personnel. Coordinate service requests including towing, deicing, and support services. Resolve customer concerns promptly and maintain a high standard of professionalism. Complete shift logs, fueling records, equipment inspections, and incident reports. Track fuel and supply inventory, reporting shortages or equipment issues. Recommend improvements in procedures, safety practices, and operational efficiency. Support budgeting and forecasting through reporting of fuel usage, staffing needs, and equipment performance. Ensure all ground support equipment (GSE) is in proper working condition. Coordinate equipment maintenance, documentation, and serviceability checks. Train staff in safe and proper operation of all equipment. Education and Work Experience High School Diploma or GED required One (1) year related experience in aviation line service, ramp operations, or related field Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred Valid driver's license; ability to meet airport badge and ramp access requirements Knowledge of fueling procedures, aircraft towing, and ground handling operations Ability to operate GSE including tugs, fuel trucks, and deciding equipment Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and customer service skills Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Driver's license Supervisory Responsibilities Flight Line Crew Technician(s) Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, often up to eight or more hours per shift, on airport ramps, hangars, and warehouse surfaces. The employee must frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach while marshaling aircraft, securing tie-downs, positioning chocks and cones, conducting ramp inspections, organizing inventory, and retrieving parts from various storage locations. The position also requires pushing and pulling aircraft, maneuvering carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and other ground support equipment. The role requires regular lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds, including fuel hoses, tow bars, oil containers, aircraft components, cleaning supplies, tools, and safety equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee may be exposed to aircraft noise, fuel vapors, lubricants, cleaning chemicals, and moving aircraft and vehicles. Work is performed primarily in an office/hangar work environment. Requires strict adherence to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE).
