A WG-8852-12, AIRCRAFT MECHANIC
(UH-72A): Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance within the CAMP and FAA framework, servicing, inspections and documention for one or more highly technical, high performance UH-72A military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weher and night operions. Trains, coordines, and oversees the work of Non-Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) aircraft mechanics. Provides mentorship for those journey level workers pursuing A&P certificion. Certifies completion of maintenance tasks of non A&P mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Certifies aircraft as airworthy before being released for flight. Performs ground checks and assists functional check pilots with in flight functional check procedures. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participes in mission preparion and recovery operions. Oversees installion of equipment for special missions. Expedites UH-72A aircraft operions to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfigurion of equipment for changes in operional missions. Performs preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft. Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Controls and performs work assignments based upon priorities, workload availability of UH-72A parts, facilities, merial and personnel. Coordines with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control on maintenance requirements to aircraft th require adjustment to changes in operional requirements. Observes and inspects work performed by other UH-72A workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publicions, directives and local policy. Accomplishes operional tests of aircraft systems and components. Maintains UH-72A aircraft under FAA and manufacturer guidelines and conducts inspections IAW Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance publicions and special inspection criteria as outlines in FAA, OEM and Army maintenance and safety messages. These include requirements of Aviion Maintenance Action Messages (AMAM), Aviion Safety Action Messages (ASAM) and any other reled FAA or Aircraft manufacturer requirement Field Level maintenance. Required to utilize the Aircraft Notebook (ACN) to make daily entries of: flight da informion and maintenance actions performed on the aircraft, parts ordering, and monthly Department of the Army Form 1352 reporting into the Logistics Support Activity and the UH-72A Lakota maintenance management system. Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Sessions are designed to provide training in techniques of repair and maintenance of UH-72A aircraft and reled equipment. Conducts and certifies proficiency of trainees for additional or increased responsibilities. Evalues training by observion of performed tasks. Tracks and records tasks for A&P aircraft mechanics as needed for those A&Ps to meet the requirements of Federal Aviion Regulion (FAR) Part 65.81. Continuously assesses skill level and proficiency of assigned personnel. Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulions. Ensures merial and equipment are properly and safely maintained and protected. Ensures current up to de compliance and conformity to all FAA and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) regulory requirements. May participe in operional flights as a crewmember. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training th has provided the candide with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificions. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have a least 18 months experience in addition to journey-level experience. Positions this grade level may include performing duties as a dediced crew chief. Other positions may include responsibility for performing, coordining, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers. Some positions may include coordining the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft. Other positions may include serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
Journey-level experience:
Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modificion. Experience coordining the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
