Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Burglar Alarm Technician to join our security services team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of security alarm systems, including burglar alarms, CCTV surveillance, sensors, fire alarms, and access control systems. Your expertise will ensure our clients' properties are protected with reliable and innovative security solutions. Duties Install, configure, and troubleshoot burglar alarm systems, CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarms, and access control devices across various sites. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security systems to ensure optimal performance. Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately install and service low voltage electrical systems. Use hand tools and power tools to perform cabling, conduit installation, device mounting, and system adjustments. Diagnose system malfunctions using remote access software and system design knowledge; resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime. Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs; provide system demonstrations and training on operation and maintenance. Maintain detailed service records, installation logs, and compliance documentation in accordance with industry standards. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience for effective installation and troubleshooting of security hardware. Proficiency in computer networking, telecommunication systems, and remote access software for integrated security solutions. Familiarity with surveillance technologies such as CCTV cameras, sensors (motion detectors), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and low voltage cabling techniques. Experience with fire alarm systems, locksmithing principles, schematics interpretation, and NEC (National Electrical Code) compliance. Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately; skilled in using hand tools like screwdrivers, wire strippers, drills, power tools for construction-related tasks. Knowledge of alarm system sales processes to assist in customer consultations when applicable. Excellent field service skills with a focus on customer satisfaction; capable of working independently in diverse environments. Understanding of security protocols including surveillance integration and low voltage wiring standards for reliable system performance.
