Lead Camera, Access Control & Public Safety DAS Installation TechnicianOverview Join our growing team as a Lead Camera, Access Control & Public Safety DAS Installation Technician and play a critical leadership role in delivering advanced security and emergency communication system installations across a wide range of facilities. In this hands-on leadership position, you will oversee small field crews while actively participating in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and commissioning of surveillance systems, access control platforms, Public Safety
DAS/ERRCS
systems, and low-voltage infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership abilities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Experience with Avigilon camera and access control systems is highly preferred. This role offers the opportunity to lead field operations, mentor technicians, and work with cutting-edge security, RF communication, and life safety technologies in fast-paced environments. Duties Lead and supervise installation crews consisting of 1-3 technicians on security, low-voltage, and Public Safety
DAS/ERRCS
projects. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and service CCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, fire alarm interfaces, and related security hardware. Install and support Avigilon camera systems, Avigilon Control Center (ACC), and Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) platforms. Install, terminate, test, and maintain Public Safety
DAS/ERRCS
(Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems) infrastructure including BDAs, antennas, coaxial cabling, splitters, couplers, and related RF components. Perform RF signal testing, troubleshooting, and system commissioning to ensure compliance with public safety communication requirements and AHJ standards. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, DAS floor plans, and project specifications to ensure accurate installations. Coordinate daily jobsite activities, assign tasks, and ensure crew productivity and workmanship meet company standards. Perform low-voltage cabling including CAT6, fiber optic, coaxial, and access control wiring installations. Configure network-connected devices including switches, PoE equipment, NVRs, controllers, and remote access systems. Conduct site assessments to determine optimal placement of cameras, antennas, readers, locks, sensors, and related equipment. Test and verify functionality of surveillance systems, IDS devices, access control hardware, and DAS signal coverage. Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IFC, OSHA, and local public safety communication codes and standards. Communicate directly with customers, contractors, project managers, RF engineers, and AHJs to coordinate installation activities and resolve field issues. Train and mentor junior technicians on installation procedures, troubleshooting methods, RF best practices, and safety protocols. Maintain accurate project documentation including installation records, RF test results, service reports, and material usage logs. Manage jobsite organization, inventory, and tool accountability to maintain efficient project execution. Skills & Qualifications Strong leadership experience supervising small installation crews in low-voltage, security, telecommunications, or DAS environments. Extensive knowledge of CCTV systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and low-voltage electrical work. Experience with Avigilon Unity, Avigilon Control Center (ACC), and Avigilon ACM systems preferred. Strong understanding of Public Safety
DAS/ERRCS
systems including BDA installation, RF signal propagation, antenna systems, coaxial infrastructure, and emergency responder communication requirements. Familiarity with RF testing equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal meters, PIM testing tools, and cable certification equipment. Understanding of NFPA, IFC, NEC, OSHA, and public safety radio communication standards. Strong networking knowledge including IP addressing, switches, VLANs, remote connectivity, and PoE systems. Ability to read and interpret schematics, construction drawings, DAS design plans, and technical documentation. Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, cable termination tools, and testing equipment. Experience with fiber optic cabling, structured cabling systems, and cable certification tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in live field environments. Mechanical aptitude for mounting and securing equipment across various building types and surfaces. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage crews and customer expectations effectively. Construction experience and ability to work in commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and government facilities preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively required. Travel Requirement This position requires extensive travel, up to 100%, including overnight and multi-day assignments. Candidates must be comfortable managing crews and working in a variety of environments while traveling frequently to customer locations throughout the region or nationwide as needed.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
