Job Description

Skilled conduit work. Lives depend on it. Fire Detection Unlimited, Inc. (FDU) designs, installs, and maintains advanced fire alarm and life safety systems for commercial and industrial buildings — and we're growing fast. We're looking for an experienced Conduit Installer who can lay out, bend, and run conduit to spec with minimal oversight, and take pride in clean, code-compliant workmanship. This is a hands-on role for someone who already knows the trade — not an entry-level position. If you can read a set of plans, plan your runs, and bend a clean offset, we want to talk. Our core values guide everything we do and everyone we hire: we are inspirational, disciplined, accountable, transparent, aligned, and results-oriented. What you'll do Lay out, measure, cut, bend, and install EMT, rigid, and PVC conduit for fire alarm and life safety systems Plan conduit runs from blueprints, riser diagrams, and field conditions Install raceway, junction boxes, supports, and fittings to NEC and local code Pull, route, and terminate low voltage wiring through installed conduit Coordinate with other trades on the job site to keep work on schedule and out of conflict Inspect your own work for quality, code compliance, and clean finish Mentor and guide less-experienced installers and wire pullers on the crew Maintain tools and equipment, and keep the work area safe and organized Follow all FDU policies, procedures, and safety protocols What you bring Required — one of the following: current enrollment in the WBFAA (Western Burglar & Fire Alarm Association) Fire/Life Safety Technician Apprenticeship Program, a valid California State Fire/Life Safety Technician certification, or NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems 3+ years of hands-on conduit installation experience (fire alarm or life safety a strong plus) Proficiency bending and installing EMT, rigid, and PVC conduit, including offsets, kicks, and saddles Ability to lay out conduit runs independently from blueprints and riser diagrams Solid working knowledge of NEC and applicable local codes Comfort with the hand and power tools used in conduit and low voltage installation Strong attention to detail and a reputation for clean, professional workmanship High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to obtain security clearance and airport badging required for some of our job sites Nice to have Low voltage or electrical certification OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Prior lead or crew-coordination experience Physical requirements Lift up to 50 lbs regularly Work comfortably at heights, in tight spaces, and outdoors Stand, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods Why FDU — our benefits Retirement plan with employer matching Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Flexible spending account Paid time off Tuition reimbursement and professional development assistance Employee referral program How to apply Apply directly through Indeed, or email your resume to resumes@firedetect.com with the job title and where you found this posting in the subject line.
