Full Job Description Overview Description SUMMARY:
Fire Alarm Technician responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining fire alarm systems in both new and existing buildings across various construction types. This role involves working with conduits, cabling, alarm devices, and control panels to ensure systems are properly installed and fully operational.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, service, and maintain fire alarm panels, audible and visual notification devices, pull stations, and detectors. Troubleshoot system issues such as ground faults, short circuits, and open circuits using a digital multimeter. Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain conduits, junction boxes, terminals, and related equipment. Pull, strip, and terminate wiring for fire alarm devices using appropriate tools and materials, including crimps, solder, heat shrink, tape, wire nuts, and terminal blocks. Secure conduits to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, anchors, and other hardware. Inspect, test, and verify system functionality using fire alarm testing equipment, load testing procedures, and visual/audible checks. Program fire alarm panels, including circuits, modules, sensors, and input/output devices. Measure, cut, and bend conduits to specifications. Reliable and consistent attendance is essential for this position. Duties and responsibilities are subject to change at any time. Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience. OSHA-10 certification and CPR/First Aid training must be completed within the first three months of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to understand instructions, written communications, lists, and reports. Familiarity with software and tools such as Paycom, Outlook, and Buildertrend, along with basic competency using mobile devices for communication. Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate figures, rates, ratios, and percentages. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply common-sense reasoning to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions, including situations with multiple variables.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for extended periods while performing job duties. Capability to climb ladders and similar structures. Ability to crouch, stoop, and bend at the knees or waist as needed. Manual dexterity to handle tools and materials effectively. Ability to lift and move tools, equipment, and piping. Capability to reach in various directions with hands and arms. Adequate vision to perform detailed and accurate work. Ability to communicate clearly in person and by phone. Capacity to walk and move about job sites regularly.
TRAVEL AND WORK SCHEDULE
Occasional travel may be required for out-of-town projects; accommodations will be provided as needed.
Pay:
$27.21 - $40.00 per hour
