Black Eagle Fire & Security Service Technician (Fire & Life Safety) - Full Time About Us Black Eagle Fire & Security is a family-owned and operated company dedicated to protecting homes, businesses, and communities through dependable fire and security solutions. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Service Technician (Fire & Life Safety) to join our growing team. Position Summary The Service Technician is responsible for installing, programming, servicing, troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining excellent customer service and code compliance standards. What You Will Do Install & Program Install, mount, wire, and program fire alarm systems, control panels, and notification devices Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications and applicable fire/life safety codes Troubleshooting & Repairs Diagnose and repair issues involving low-voltage systems, and fire alarm equipment, Perform preventive maintenance and respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner Testing & Inspections Conduct inspections, testing, and system verification Coordinate with Fire Departments and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to obtain system approvals Team Leadership Lead daily "Start of Shift" meetings when required Assist with training and mentoring apprentices and junior technicians Project Coordination Work closely with project managers and team members to ensure installations follow approved plans and specifications Communicate job progress, challenges, and material needs effectively Documentation & Record Keeping Maintain accurate records of labor hours, materials used, inspections, and completed work Prepare detailed and timely service reports and documentation Qualifications & Experience Minimum 2 years of electrical or low-voltage experience required Fire alarm installation and service experience strongly preferred Knowledge of fire alarm systems, initiating devices, notification appliances, and control equipment Understanding of electrical systems, building construction, and fire/life safety codes Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals Experience with the following systems is highly preferred: Kidde, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Mircom Skills & Abilities Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Reliable, organized, and self-motivated Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment Professional attitude and strong work ethic Ability to work independently or as part of a crew Requirements Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record High School Diploma or equivalent Blue Card (Fire/Life Safety Certification) preferred Must pass a background check through Checkr Ability to safely use ladders and hand tools Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 25 pounds Pay & Benefits Compensation $25.00 - $50.00 per hour depending on experience Opportunities to work on prevailing wage projects are available for qualified technicians based on project availability and experience.
