Job Description

Job Overview Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of fire alarm panels and low-voltage devices in commercial or residential settings. This role ensures all systems operate according to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and local building codes. Hourly starting pay is based upon experience and qualifications. Pay range is starting pay. Responsibilities Install, program, and commission new fire alarm systems, including wiring and device installation (smoke detectors, strobes, pull stations). Perform routine inspections, testing, and checks on fire alarm components to verify functionality. Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems, identifying issues with panels, wiring, or peripheral devices. Maintain accurate, detailed records of inspections, repairs, and service calls. Train clients on how to operate systems, explain repairs, and address concerns in a professional manner. Ensure all work adheres to NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70/72, and local fire codes. Install, program and commission other low voltage systems (Intrusion alarm (security), CCTV, door access, etc. )
Required Skills & Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
2 years minimum experience in fire alarm and fire alarm maintenance.
Certification:
Current NICET Fire Alarm Level II (minimum), or III.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.
Licensure:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications Experience with specific manufacturer products (e.g., Fire-Lite, Silent Knight). Experience with other low voltage systems like security alarm, CCTV, door access, audio/video etc Knowledge of fire sprinkler monitoring and kitchen suppression systems but only to the degree to tie into fire alarm panels. Work Environment Working in high places, confined spaces, and varied weather conditions. May require on-call availability for emergency service requests.
Pay:
$26.00 - $40.00 per hour
