This is anticipated to be a temp-to-perm position Structured Cabling and Security/Access Control Lead Technician Job Description:
The Structured Cabling and Security/Access Control Lead Technician will oversee the installation, programming, commissioning, and servicing of commercial security systems, including CCTV/IP video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and structured cabling systems. This role serves as the department's technical lead while managing field crews, supporting project estimating, and maintaining strong client relationships across commercial and government projects. Qualifications for Structured Cabling and Security/Access Control Lead Technician:
Florida Alarm System Agent License (FASA) required Florida BASA license or equivalent, Florida-recognized alarm licensing required Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience installing and servicing commercial security, video surveillance, and access control systems Experience leading field crews or working in a lead/supervisory role Strong experience with IP-based camera systems, NVR/DVR platforms, and video management software (VMS) Experience programming and administering access control systems Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring practices, TCP/IP networking, VLANs, and PoE systems Ability to troubleshoot complex security and access control systems Experience performing site surveys, security assessments, and project documentation Strong client-facing communication and leadership skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record Must be able to safely use hand and power tools and wear PPE Must be able to perform job duties that require standing, climbing ladders, crouching, working in ceilings, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted Position requires the use of PPE, including steel-toe work boots, a hard hat, a safety vest, gloves, and safety glasses Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Avigilon, Avigilon Alta, Alula, Kisi, Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, Brivo, Feenics, Bosch, Honeywell, DSC, or DMP platforms ESA/NBFAA
certifications including ESNT or CAT Level I/II preferred OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred Experience with government facilities, healthcare environments, or public safety systems Experience with video analytics, LPR systems, or AI-based surveillance platforms Familiarity with NDAA-compliant camera and access control requirements Familiarity with DAS systems and low-voltage infrastructure Daily Job Activities:
Lead and oversee field crews during installation and servicing of security and structured cabling systems Install, terminate, program, test, and troubleshoot CCTV, access control, and intrusion systems Coordinate with project managers, contractors, IT teams, and customers on project progress Conduct system demonstrations and customer training Maintain project documentation, device schedules, service logs, and as-built drawings Perform site walkthroughs, provide quoting assistance, and project assessments Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications, NEC requirements, and Florida code compliance Additional Requirements for Structured Cabling and Security/Access Control Lead Technician:
