Job Description Summary:
The Service Technician•Sprinkler is responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards, state regulations, and company policies. The technician ensures systems are fully operational, code-compliant, and capable of protecting life and property.
Responsibilities:
Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and service repairs on wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pump systems. Diagnose system issues and provide cost-effective repair solutions. Document service activities, deficiencies, and recommendations in compliance with NFPA, Florida statutes, and company requirements. Maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs. Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status, deficiencies, and corrective actions. Respond to service calls, including after-hours emergencies, as scheduled. Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies. Collaborate with internal teams to schedule work efficiently and provide customer focused service.
Qualifications:
Florida Equivalent Is required High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred). Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in fire sprinkler inspection, service, or installation. Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, 25, and related codes. Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, and technical documents. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Requirements:
Licenses & Certifications (Florida Requirements): Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Florida Driver's License with acceptable driving record. NICET Level II or Florida Equivalent in Water-Based Systems is required. Must hold, or be able to work under, a Florida Fire Protection Contractor I or II License (as required for sprinkler service work per Florida Statutes 633). Must meet requirements for state-issued permits to perform inspections and service work on fire sprinkler systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead. Comfortable working at heights, on lifts, and in confined spaces. Must be able to tolerate varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, confined areas). Visual acuity and manual dexterity to work with tools, small components, and detailed documentation. Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Work Environment:
Service work is performed at customer sites, which may include commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. Work may require travel within assigned territory and occasional overnight stays #AFT123
