Job Description

Skyway Fire Protection in St. Petersburg, FL is hiring for a Fire Sprinkler Designer We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to develop and design fire sprinkler systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, excellent technical skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality designs that enhance safety. Responsibilities Design fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, in compliance with NFPA. Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and hydraulic calculations using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, or other design software. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to integrate fire sprinkler systems into building designs. Perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing to ensure optimal performance and code compliance. Conduct site surveys and coordinate with contractors during installation to ensure design accuracy. Review shop drawings and submittals to verify compliance with design specifications. Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies in fire sprinkler design. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in fire sprinkler system design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Revit, or similar design software. Strong knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 14, 20) and other relevant codes.
NICET II
certification in Water-Based Systems Layout required. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Preferred Skills Knowledge of fire pump and standpipe system design. Familiarity with fire sprinkler system fabrication and installation processes. Project management experience is a plus. Benefits Competitive salary.
