Full-Time | On-Site / Field Position Summary A Tech Freeman Systems is seeking a skilled and motivated Access Control & Intercom Systems Installer to join our growing team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of electronic access control systems, intercoms, and related security infrastructure for commercial, industrial, and residential clients throughout the region. You will represent A Tech Freeman Systems on job sites and are expected to deliver high-quality workmanship with a professional, customer-focused attitude. Key Responsibilities Install, terminate, and test access control systems including card readers, keypads, credential readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and door hardware Install and configure intercom systems including video intercoms, IP-based entry systems, and multi-tenant panels Run and manage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, coax, fiber, and low-voltage wiring) in accordance with local codes and customer specifications Mount and configure access control panels, controllers, and power supplies Program user credentials, access schedules, door groups, and alarm outputs using manufacturer software Perform site surveys to assess door hardware compatibility, conduit routing, and infrastructure requirements Integrate access control and intercom systems with camera systems, alarm panels, and other security platforms Troubleshoot and repair existing access control and intercom systems and identify hardware, software, or network faults Maintain accurate records of installations, including as-built documentation and equipment inventories Coordinate with project managers, electricians, locksmiths, and other trades on jobsite scheduling and requirements Provide basic end-user training on system operation, credential management, and remote access applications Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and applicable building codes Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean, operational condition Required Qualifications 2+ years of hands-on experience installing access control, intercom, or low-voltage security systems Familiarity with major access control platforms (Doorking, Millennium, Honeywell, or similar) Experience with IP-based and analog intercom systems (Geokey, Aiphone, ButterflyMX, or similar) Understanding of door hardware including electric strikes, magnetic locks, REX devices, and door closers Proficiency with IP networking fundamentals (IP addressing, PoE switches, VLANs, port forwarding) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams Competence with hand tools, power tools, and lift equipment Valid Iowa driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-facing demeanor Preferred Qualifications Low-voltage or access control certification (NICET, ESA, BICSI, or equivalent) Experience with camera system integration OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience working in commercial or industrial environments Familiarity with structured cabling and fiber optic termination Experience with cloud-based access control platforms Physical Requirements Frequent lifting, carrying, and positioning of equipment up to 50 lbs Prolonged standing, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces Working at heights on ladders, lifts, and aerial platforms Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Driving a company vehicle to multiple job sites throughout the workday Benefits Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Company-provided vehicle, tools, and equipment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Opportunities for advancement within a growing regional security systems company A Tech Freeman Systems is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
