Full Job Description Traveling Security Installer Technician Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Level 2 Security Installer Technician to join our team. The Level 2 Security Technician will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced low voltage security systems, including intrusion alarms, CCTV cameras, access control, and integrated security solutions. This technician will work independently or lead teams during installations, ensuring that systems are properly configured, tested, and optimized to meet client needs. In addition to hands-on installation, the Level 2 Security Technician will mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance on complex low voltage security system installations.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and commission advanced low voltage security systems, including CCTV cameras, intrusion alarms, access control systems, and integrated security solutions. Run, pull, and terminate low voltage cables (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial cables, and power cables) for security devices, ensuring proper signal flow and power connections. Program and configure security devices, including cameras, motion detectors, control panels, alarm systems, and other components. Troubleshoot and resolve complex security system issues, including device malfunctions, wiring problems, and software-related issues in low voltage installations. Lead and oversee security system installations, ensuring compliance with local codes, safety standards, and client specifications for low voltage systems. Perform system testing, calibration, and optimization to ensure proper functionality of low voltage security systems. Conduct site surveys to assess security requirements, plan installations, and ensure the correct placement of low voltage systems. Provide on-site client support, explain system features, and offer recommendations based on specific security needs. Document installations, system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and service reports for accurate records of low voltage security systems. Perform preventive maintenance and system upgrades to ensure security systems remain reliable and up-to-date.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of low voltage security systems, including CCTV, access control, alarm systems, and integrated security solutions. Proficiency in low voltage cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and power cables) and associated components for security systems. Ability to read and interpret system schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals for low voltage systems. Strong experience troubleshooting and resolving complex security system issues, both hardware and software-related, in low voltage applications. Knowledge of local codes, security regulations, and industry best practices for low voltage installations. Experience in leading installation teams, managing projects from start to finish, and ensuring that low voltage systems are installed and optimized efficiently. Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, providing technical support, and training junior technicians in low voltage security systems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality results on low voltage installations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for traveling to job sites. Industry certifications such as NICET, BICSI, or equivalent are preferred. Ability to work in various environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial low voltage security system installations.
