Ensure compliance with NFPA, including performing annual device testing for fire alarm systems and completing and maintaining all records required by NFPA-72. Performs basic programming for electronic components of fire alarm systems. Assist in testing of fire systems including duct detectors and smoke control systems. Perform fire alarm system take offs and layout. Responds to electrical service or trouble calls, troubleshoots various problems/issues, and provides problem resolution. Prepares working sketches and works from blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions. Prioritizes daily work orders and repairs. Estimates materials, labor, and equipment costs. Maintains records and prepares daily activity. Assists in the maintenance and repair work in a variety of other low voltage life safety systems as needed including nurse call systems, security systems, access control systems and CCTV and related equipment in commercial and residential buildings. The position may be required to be on-call to address emergent needs. This position is located out of our Yadkinville office and is full-time with a comprehensive benefits package. Job Responsibilities Duties
  • Install, maintain and repair fire alarm and fire suppression systems as well as other life safety systems as needed based on blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with fire alarms and other systems as needed
  • Identify risk to customers and provide effective solutions
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace
  • Respond to emergency service calls
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors based on following wiring and system specifications
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve basic network related problems
  • Demonstrate systems and explain details of the systems to our customers, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms Minimum Requirements
  • 5 + years of experience installing and servicing fire alarm low voltage systems through installation, maintenance, or other related fields
  • Should have their level I, II, or
III NICET
certification
  • Knowledgeable about NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72
  • Proficient with various types of cable termination including coaxial, CAT5/CAT 6 and fiber optics
  • Experience with programming and network systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends on occasion as required by workload
  • Valid drivers license and clean DMV report as well as operating a company vehicle

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to perform the following:
  • Lift up to 75 pounds
  • Work from ladder or scaffold
  • Work overhead and perform without hindrance activities that involve repetitive movements
  • Climb and work at heights exceeding 12 feet and in confined places
  • Ascend and descend ladders as well as balance on a ladder
  • Sit, stand, balance, climb, squat, kneel, crouch, bend, reach, stretch, crawl, grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
  • Ability to handle a physical workload in hot and cold environments either inside or outside
  • Ability to occasionally perform work in confined places such as attics and crawl spaces
