Job Description

Job Description RAEL Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler / Standpipe Technician with 5+ years of hands-on experience leading large-scale inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair projects throughout New York City and the five boroughs. This role is ideal for a technician who can work independently, lead crews when needed, coordinate with contractors and building staff, and manage projects from start to finish while maintaining safety, quality, and code compliance standards. You will work in high-profile buildings including stadiums, hospitals, colleges, office buildings, hotels, malls, and large commercial facilities throughout the NYC metro area. Core Responsibilities & Skills Lead and supervise crews on large-scale fire sprinkler and standpipe projects Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fire sprinkler and standpipe systems Perform NFPA 25 inspection, testing, and maintenance procedures Diagnose system deficiencies and complete repairs efficiently in the field Interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, schematics, and construction documents Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, building engineers, and project managers Manage workflows, scheduling, and on-site productivity Perform system installations, maintenance, and emergency service repairs Communicate professionally with customers and building personnel Work independently or lead teams to meet project deadlines Utilize power and hand tools, including Ridgid 300 pipe machine for grooving and threading Maintain equipment, tools, and company vehicle in proper working condition Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, FDNY regulations, and site safety requirements Willingness to work overtime, nights, or non-standard hours as project demands require Perform additional duties as needed to support operations and project success Technical Expertise Wet fire sprinkler systems Dry and pre-action systems Standpipe systems Fire sprinkler inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair. Large-scale ITM projects Fire pump experience preferred Strong understanding of NFPA 25 requirements Qualifications 5+ years of fire sprinkler / standpipe field experience 3+ years of experience serving as a lead technician on large-scale projects Strong working knowledge of sprinkler and standpipe systems Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in the field Proven leadership, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities Experience working in occupied commercial buildings and active construction environments Required Certifications S12 (Required) S13 (Required) SST Card (Required) Clean Driver's License (Required)
Pay:
$30.00 - $45.00 per hour
