Job Description

The Lead Access Control & Security Systems Installation Technician will be responsible for field installation, troubleshooting, commissioning support, and quality control for security systems throughout Belle Oaks Marketplace. This person must be comfortable working on a major construction/development site and coordinating with project managers, electricians, IT/network teams, locksmiths, door hardware vendors, general contractors, and property operations. This is a hands-on field role for someone who knows how to make doors work correctly, not just how to mount cameras. What You'll Do Install, wire, terminate, label, test, troubleshoot, and support commissioning of Verkada and related security systems, including: Access-control panels/controllers, readers, REX devices, door position indicators/door contacts, AUX inputs, relays, power supplies, and related field devices. Electrified door hardware including electric strikes, maglocks, electrified locksets, panic/crash bars, mortise locks, cylindrical locks, transfer hinges, door loops, latch monitoring, and request-to-exit hardware. Apartment/unit door locks, wireless locks, multifamily entry hardware, and related hub/controller infrastructure. Mantrap/security interlock doors, vestibules, amenity access, staff-only areas, loading/receiving areas, package rooms, leasing office doors, garage/parking access, and other controlled openings. IP security cameras, PoE devices, camera mounting hardware, junction boxes, conduit/pathway, and cable management. Low-voltage cabling including Cat5e/Cat6, shielded access-control cable, reader cable, lock power cable, door contact cable, and RS-485/Wiegand wiring. Clean head-end panel work, wire dressing, labeling, grounding, as-built documentation, punch-list corrections, and final system validation. Intercom systems.
You will also:
Read and interpret construction drawings, door schedules, hardware schedules, risers, submittals, wiring diagrams, cut sheets, and project specifications. Verify door compatibility, handing, backset, lock type, frame condition, strike alignment, and field conditions before installation. Troubleshoot 12V/24V lock power, dry/wet relay issues, grounding problems, PoE/network problems, reader issues, door-contact issues, REX issues, and mechanical door alignment problems. Use multimeters, tone/probe kits, cable testers/certifiers, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts. Coordinate daily with project leadership and other trades to keep installations moving on schedule. Maintain accurate documentation of installed devices, cable labels, door names, controller locations, test results, and open issues. Follow site safety requirements, applicable codes, manufacturer instructions, and local authority-having-jurisdiction requirements. Required Experience 5+ years of hands-on commercial access-control, low-voltage security, or electrified door hardware installation experience. Expert-level understanding of commercial door access control: controllers, readers, locks, REX, door contacts/DPI, relays, power supplies, grounding, and troubleshooting. Strong experience with electrified door hardware, including maglocks, electric strikes, panic/crash hardware, mortise/cylindrical locks, and fail-safe/fail-secure configurations. Experience installing or supporting mantraps, door interlocks, controlled vestibules, or other specialty secure openings. Ability to read blueprints, door schedules, hardware schedules, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer installation instructions.
Solid low-voltage cabling skills:
pulling, dressing, terminating, testing, labeling, grounding, and documenting cable.
Basic networking knowledge:
IP devices, PoE, DHCP, DNS, VLAN awareness, switch ports, and connectivity troubleshooting. Ability to work independently, solve field problems, and communicate clearly with project managers and other trades. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass background check and any project-required screening. Ability to work from ladders/lifts, lift up to 50-75 lbs as needed, and work in active construction environments. Full-time position based out of the Cleveland, OH area, with primary work at Belle Oaks Marketplace in Richmond Heights and related project locations as needed. Some early morning, evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required depending on construction schedules, inspections, and turnover deadlines. Please submit your resume and a short summary of your access-control and door-hardware installation experience. Include examples of the systems you have installed, the types of doors/hardware you have worked on, and any experience with multifamily, commercial, mixed-use, or large construction projects
