Job Title:
Low Voltage Electrician Technician Job Description This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low voltage electrical systems, with a primary emphasis on fire alarm and security systems in commercial and industrial environments. You will handle both service and installation work, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes while delivering professional service to customers. Responsibilities Install, test, and maintain fire alarm systems and other low voltage systems such as security, access control, and related equipment in commercial and industrial settings. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute installations and repairs accurately. Pull, route, terminate, and label low voltage wiring and cabling in accordance with project specifications and standards. Program and configure fire alarm control panels and associated devices to meet system design and performance requirements. Perform inspections on low voltage systems to ensure compliance with local codes and industry standards. Troubleshoot and repair system faults and malfunctions, including electrical diagnostics and repair for low voltage systems. Install and service security systems and camera installations, including conduit, cable, and related infrastructure. Use power tools and construction methods safely to complete installations, repairs, and modifications. Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades on job sites to coordinate work and meet project timelines. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system configurations for each project or service call. Provide clear, professional communication and excellent customer service to clients on-site and remotely. Work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects and service tasks efficiently. Perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders and lifts, and working in confined spaces as required by the job. Essential Skills Minimum 5 years of experience in low voltage electrical work, preferably with a strong focus on fire alarm systems. Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems and other low voltage systems, including security and access control. Working knowledge of applicable electrical and fire alarm codes and standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Proficiency in pulling, terminating, and labeling low voltage wiring and cabling. Experience programming and configuring fire alarm control panels and related devices. Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and repairing system faults and malfunctions. Hands-on experience with conduit installation, cable management, and use of power tools. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to provide and use personal hand tools appropriate for low voltage electrical work. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders and lifts, and operate in confined spaces. Comfort working in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Specific industry training or certifications in low voltage, fire alarm, or security systems, which can support higher compensation. Experience with security systems, camera installation, and access control solutions. Experience with electrical diagnostics and repair in both low voltage and high voltage environments (high voltage experience is accepted but not required). background in construction environments, including working alongside multiple trades. Experience performing both service and installation work, including new installations and system upgrades. Ability to take on responsibilities above an apprentice level, supported by 5+ years of relevant experience. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
