Security Systems Field Technician (Grow Into Networking & IT)

We are an established IT services company supporting residential real estate owners and property managers across NYC. We specialize in network infrastructure, cloud platforms, and smart building technology.
We are expanding our team and looking for experienced security system technicians who want to grow into networking, cloud systems, and remote administration. Why This Role Is Different If you've been installing intercoms, access control, or cameras and want to:

This position is designed as a career growth path into IT-integrated building systems. Job Summary This is a hybrid role combining:
Field work (installation, service, troubleshooting in buildings)
Remote work (system administration, monitoring, and support) You will install and support intercom, access control, and video surveillance systems, while also learning to manage and troubleshoot these platforms remotely through cloud dashboards and network tools. Responsibilities
Field Installation & Service
Install and configure: o Intercom systems (Mircom, ButterflyMX, Aiphone, etc.) o Access control systems (Brivo, Openpath, S2 Netbox, etc.) o IP-based surveillance systems (Digital Watchdog, Video Insight)
Run and terminate low-voltage cabling (Cat5/6, etc.)
Mount, test, and commission system hardware
Diagnose and repair on-site system issues Remote System Administration
Manage and monitor cloud-based systems remotely
Perform:
o User provisioning (adding/removing residents, credentials) o System configuration updates o Remote troubleshooting and diagnostics
Respond to client support requests without requiring a site visit when possible
Maintain system uptime and performance across multiple properties Networking & IT Integration
Work with IP-based devices and PoE infrastructure
Assist with: o IP addressing and device configuration o Connectivity troubleshooting o Coordinating with internal IT team on network setup
Learn how physical security systems integrate with managed IT environments Client Interaction
Work with property managers, building staff, and ownership groups
Provide professional, customer-friendly support both on-site and remotely
Help clients understand system functionality and basic troubleshooting Documentation
Document installations, service work, and configurations
Maintain accurate records of network settings and system layouts
Update internal systems and tickets What We're Looking For Required
2-5+ years of experience in: o Security system installation OR o Low-voltage/structured cabling
Experience with: o Intercom, access control, or CCTV systems
