As a Smart Home Security Technician, you will be at the forefront of designing, installing, and maintaining advanced security systems that keep families safe and connected. Your energetic approach and technical skills will drive customer satisfaction and ensure the seamless operation of smart security networks in residential environments. Duties Install, configure, and troubleshoot a wide range of smart security systems including CCTV, sensors, alarms, and access controls. Conduct detailed site surveys to assess customer needs and develop tailored system designs using schematics and system diagrams. Connect and test low voltage wiring, cabling, and power supplies to ensure reliable system performance. Utilize remote access software to monitor, diagnose, and update security systems remotely for optimal operation. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on existing security infrastructure while adhering to electrical and telecommunication standards. Educate customers on system features, operation procedures, and best practices for maintaining their security solutions. Collaborate with construction teams or contractors during new builds or renovations to integrate security components seamlessly into the home infrastructure. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician in security systems or related field service roles. Strong knowledge of computer networking, telecommunication systems, and low voltage electrical wiring. Mechanical aptitude with experience handling hand tools and power tools for installation tasks. Familiarity with surveillance equipment such as CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarms, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and alarm systems. Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and construction plans accurately. Electrical experience including cabling, power supplies, NEC (National Electrical Code) standards, and system design principles. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues using remote access software or on-site inspections. Effective communication skills to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers. Knowledge of locksmithing or security hardware installation is a plus.
