Job Description
Cardinal Fire Systems is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician Apprentice who is actively pursuing a Texas Fire Alarm Technician (FAL) license. This role supports licensed technicians and performs installation, testing, and service work under supervision , in accordance with Texas State Fire Marshal rules. This position is ideal for candidates with fire alarm or low‑voltage experience who are committed to becoming fully licensed in Texas. What You'll Do Assist licensed Fire Alarm Technicians with installation, inspection, testing, and servicing of fire alarm systems Perform hands‑on field work under the supervision of a licensed technicians Learn Texas fire alarm codes, NFPA standards, and system requirements Help with device installation, wiring, terminations, and basic troubleshooting Accurately complete service documentation as directed Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe work environment Required Qualifications Actively pursuing a Texas Fire Alarm Technician (FAL) license (testing scheduled, exams passed, or license application in progress) Basic knowledge of fire alarm systems, electrical systems, or low‑voltage work Valid Texas driver's license Ability to pass background check and fingerprinting Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders and job sites Reliable Transportation Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in fire alarm, security, electrical, or low‑voltage systems Candidates with Simplex or Autocall experience preferred Enrollment in NICET or other fire alarm certification programs What We Offer Structured path to Texas FAL licensure On‑the‑job training with licensed technicians Basic Company tools and equipment provided Advancement into a Licensed Fire Alarm Technician role upon licensure Fuel Allowance for Personal Vehicle Safety Requirements Follow all site-specific safety rules and company safety policies, including required use of PPE Maintain safe work practices when working at heights, around energized circuits, and in occupied buildings Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly; stop work when conditions are unsafe Required Qualifications Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record (as required for the role and insurability) Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting, where required by law, licensing, or customer/site requirements Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working on ladders and active job sites
