Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our life safety team. You will handle the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of complex fire alarm systems. This role combines advanced technical diagnostics with high-level customer service. You will ensure commercial and industrial facilities remain fully code-compliant and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
System Diagnostics:
Troubleshoot, repair, and service diverse fire alarm and auxiliary life safety systems.
Inspections & Testing:
Conduct routine and regulatory testing of panels, initiating devices, and notification appliances.
System Maintenance:
Perform corrective repairs and preventative maintenance to eliminate system deficiencies.
Blueprints & Schematics:
Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system design drawings for fast troubleshooting.
Customer Service & Communication:
Client Consultation:
Explain technical issues, repair needs, and code deficiencies clearly to facility managers.
Professional Presence:
Serve as the primary, professional face of the company during on-site field visits.
Reporting:
Complete and deliver accurate digital inspection reports and service tickets immediately after calls.
Safety & Compliance:
Code Adherence:
Ensure all service work aligns strictly with
NFPA 72, NFPA
101, and local fire codes.
Safety Protocols:
Follow strict on-site safety guidelines, including appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use.
Emergency Response:
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to handle urgent, after-hours emergency service requests.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Industry Experience:
3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing and programming commercial fire alarm systems.
Technical Literacy:
Proven ability to read complex blueprints, circuit schematics, and construction design drawings.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-first mindset.
Tools & Tech:
Mastery of digital multi-meters, battery testers, and cloud-based mobile dispatch/reporting software.
Logistics:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the physical ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
