Job Description Alarm System Technician (Corporate) Richmond, VA, United States of America $25.00 - $35.00 Overview Dunbar Security Solutions is a trusted provider of professional security services. Job Skills / Requirements OverviewPerforms a variety of security systems installation, maintenance, modification, and repair work. Repairs access control, CCTV, electronic devices, and alarm systems. Tests security systems hardware using special testing equipment. Corrects malfunctions to restore the conformance of equipment to established standards. Make emergency repairs. Installs and relocates security systems equipment and other related equipment. Maintains records of equipment installed. Operates power tools and uses hand tools to install and repair electronic equipment. Performs physical inventories of security systems equipment. Distinguishes colors to identify color-coded cable, wiring, and electronic components that use standard industry color codes. Moves electronic equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with the aid of a hand truck for distances of up to 100 feet to transport equipment to and from sites. Cleans security systems equipment and work areas. Meets scheduling and attendance requirements. Essential Functions A Security Systems Technician is responsible for performing skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of access control, closed circuit television (CCTV) and security systems hardware and software.
Additional duties include:
installing, maintaining, repairing and testing data cable and wiring, electronic door locks, access card readers, door position switches, request to exit detectors, CCTV cameras, and other security systems related hardware; testing security systems hardware and correcting malfunctions to restore the conformance of the equipment to established standards; working with data, alarm and monitoring circuits; installing and relocating security systems equipment; conducting research and analyzing test measurements. Work involves evaluating present systems and recommending system expansion, modification, and replacement. This class performs related duties as required. Regular Attendance, required. The ability to work all scheduled hours, including all overtime necessary. Must be willing to work rotating On-Call shifts. Competencies Customer Service. Ethical Conduct. Thoroughness. Communication Proficiency. Neat appearance. Required Education and Experience High school diploma/GED required (Associates degree in a business-related field preferred). 1-3 years' experience in the installation and maintenance of security systems and equipment. Must possess a valid DCJS registration for Electronic Security Technician or verifiable eligibility (no felonies) Knowledge of Access Control, CCTV & Alarm Systems. Must be able to safely transport and operate company-owned electric scissor lift/trailer. Must possess a valid driver's license. +3 or more VA Safe driving points with no outstanding or pending traffic violations Ability to travel and work out of town if needed Capable of lifting at least 75lbs Must be able to climb and handle ladders on a regular basis Must be willing to work all shifts and be available for rotating On-Call shifts. Must be comfortable working evening shifts in retail environments as needed. Ability to function well in a team environment. Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all times. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
