Job Summary The Paint Prep position is essential in the automotive repair and restoration industry, focusing on preparing vehicles for painting. This role involves meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of various auto body processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all surfaces are properly prepped, cleaned, and ready for the painting process, contributing to high-quality finishes and customer satisfaction. Duties Prepare vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking surfaces to ensure a smooth application. Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify areas needing repair or additional prep work. Utilize hand tools and equipment effectively to perform tasks such as buffing and detailing. Assist in the auto body repair process as needed, including minor repairs and restoration tasks. Collaborate with auto painters and other team members to ensure efficient workflow. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Stay updated on industry best practices for paint preparation and auto restoration techniques. Color sand and buff vehicles after they have been painted for final finish Requirements Experience in auto body repair or painting is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential. Familiarity with auto glass installation and removal is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during vehicle prep processes. Basic knowledge of auto estimating may be beneficial for assessing repair needs. Proficiency in using hand tools and equipment related to the automotive industry. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
