POSITION SUMMARY
The Body Shop Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing detailed repair estimates, and coordinating repair approvals between customers, insurance partners, and the Collision Center team. This role ensures that all collision repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer and insurance standards while maintaining superior communication and customer satisfaction. Success in this position requires strong technical knowledge, negotiation ability, and interpersonal skills. The Estimator plays a key role in driving shop productivity, profitability, and customer trust, while embodying 24 Auto Group s Core Values of Service Excellence, Transparency, and Building Long-Term Relationships.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES DAMAGE ASSESSMENT & ESTIMATING
: Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of collision-related damage to body, structure, and mechanical systems. Prepare accurate and detailed estimates using CCC One, Audatex, or comparable estimating software. Determine repair vs. replacement feasibility and ensure all repair procedures meet OEM and safety standards. Prepare supplemental estimates as required and ensure proper documentation for insurance and internal review. Review and finalize repair plans with the Body Shop Manager or Production Foreman for accuracy and efficiency.
INSURANCE & INTERDEPARTMENTAL COORDINATION
: Serve as the primary liaison with insurance companies, negotiating repair authorizations and supplements to secure fair and timely approvals. Communicate regularly with collision technicians to verify repair needs, progress, and accuracy of estimates. Work closely with Parts and Paint Departments to confirm parts accuracy and ensure smooth repair workflow. Maintain clear, professional communication with insurance adjusters and update all estimate changes promptly. Ensure all required photographs, documentation, and authorizations are completed and attached to repair files.
CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION & SERVICE
: Provide clear, courteous communication with customers from estimate to vehicle delivery. Explain repair procedures, timelines, and insurance coordination in understandable terms. Update customers regularly regarding repair status, supplement approvals, and delivery expectations. Resolve concerns proactively, ensuring a positive experience consistent with company service standards.
SHOP OPERATIONS & QUALITY ASSURANCE
: Monitor repair progress to ensure timely completion and adherence to approved estimates. Collaborate with technicians to address discrepancies or unforeseen damage efficiently. Inspect completed repairs for accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety and OEM standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment consistent with dealership and OSHA policies. Support continuous improvement in repair processes, cycle time, and customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
: High school diploma or GED required; Associate s degree in Automotive Technology preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Collision Estimator in a dealership or independent body shop. Strong knowledge of collision repair processes, OEM procedures, and insurance estimating practices. Experience working with Direct Repair Program (DRP) insurance partners preferred.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY
: Proficient in CCC One, Audatex, or Mitchell estimating platforms. Knowledge of OEM repair procedures, technical bulletins, and insurance documentation. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
CERTIFICATES / LICENSES
Damage Analysis and Estimating Certification for Collision Repair required . I-CAR Platinum, ASE, or OEM certifications preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license and be insurable under company policy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Medium Work:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Regular use of hands and arms to inspect vehicles and complete digital estimates. Regular use of computers and phones daily. Sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Exposure to typical collision center conditions such as noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
