Auto Body Technician & Painter (Temporary) Joseph's Transportation Medford, MA Job Details Temporary $35 - $45 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Masking for automotive painting Automotive wet painting Heavy lifting Working in the automotive repair industry Clean workspace maintenance Bus repair Commercial vehicle Full Job Description Overview We are hiring an experienced Temporary Heavy-Duty Auto Body Technician & Painter to complete exterior bodywork and painting on our commercial bus fleet. This is a project-based contract with a strict deadline to complete all repairs by the end of August. The fleet includes coach buses, fiberglass shuttle buses, and aluminum buses. Because our facility is fully operational during normal business hours, all work for this project must be completed during the evening or overnight.
Schedule & Setup Shift:
Flexible schedule, beginning work at 3:00 PM or later.
Painting Requirement:
Due to facility and operational needs, all active spray painting must be conducted after 9:00 PM (may vary based on the shop needs).
Tools & Materials:
The shop will provide all paint, necessary materials, and workspace. You must supply your own hand tools, power tools, and paint guns. Responsibilities Assess and execute heavy-duty auto body repairs on coach buses, minibuses, and vans and other vehicles. Perform patching, dent removal, and panel replacement. Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting (sanding, masking, and priming). Mix and apply automotive paint to match existing fleet colors. Conduct vehicle exterior inspections to identify and execute necessary body repairs. Safely utilize heavy lifting techniques, staging, and ladders to maneuver around large commercial vehicles. Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere strictly to safety protocols while working independently. Qualifications Professional auto body repair and painting experience required. Direct experience working on heavy-duty fleets, commercial trucks, or large buses. Must own and supply the required tools and spray guns to execute professional large-panel bodywork. Capable of working efficiently and safely without direct supervision during 2nd or 3rd shift hours. Reliable and committed to getting the bulk of the work done this summer. Compensation $35.00 - $45.00+ per hour (A flat-rate or piece-rate per bus is also available and can be negotiated based on the scope of damage per vehicle). How to
