Qualifications 1. Holds or is eligible to obtain a valid Mississippi Educator License with appropriate endorsement in Collision Repair Technology or related field. 2. Applicant must have earned an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education; OR possess equivalent industry-recognized training and certifications as approved by the Mississippi Department of Education. 3. Applicant must have verifiable occupational experience in collision repair technology, auto body repair, refinishing, structural analysis, estimating, welding, or related automotive repair fields consistent with Mississippi Department of Education requirements. 4. Industry certifications preferred, including but not limited to: a. I-CAR Certification b. ASE Certification(s) c. Welding certifications applicable to collision repair d. Estimating software certifications (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex, etc.) 5.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
a. Collision repair procedures b. Structural and non-structural repair c. Automotive refinishing d. Paint systems and color matching e. Frame alignment systems f. Welding and cutting equipment g. Shop safety and OSHA standards h. Modern collision repair technology and diagnostic systems 6. Applicant must complete all additional requirements established by the Mississippi Department of Education and Tupelo Public School District within required timelines. 7. JOB GOAL
To develop in each pupil an awareness and understanding coupled with the basic skills and knowledge applicable to a specific occupation in the business or public sector; and to instill in each pupil safe working habits, the importance of continued education and the assets of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides instruction in collision repair technology aligned to Mississippi Department of Education curriculum frameworks and industry standards. 2.
Teaches students occupational competencies in:
Damage analysis Structural and non-structural repair Welding procedures Automotive refinishing Surface preparation Frame measurement and alignment Paint application and color matching Estimating procedures Shop operations and professionalism 3. Maintains a safe instructional environment and ensures students follow all safety regulations regarding equipment, tools, hazardous materials, and personal protective equipment (PPE). 4. Develops lesson plans, laboratory activities, and project-based instruction that simulate real-world collision repair environments. 5. Operates and maintains collision repair equipment, spray booths, frame machines, welders, hand tools, and related instructional technology. 6. Instructs students in proper use, care, maintenance, and storage of tools, materials, and equipment. 7. Integrates employability skills, work ethic, communication, teamwork, and professionalism into daily instruction. 8. Prepares students for industry certifications including I-CAR, ASE, OSHA, and other approved credentials. 9. Maintains accurate student records, certification data, inventories, safety logs, and instructional documentation. 10. Establishes and maintains relationships with local collision repair businesses, dealerships, and industry partners to support advisory committees, internships, work-based learning, and job placement opportunities. 11. Assists students with career readiness activities including resumes, interview skills, portfolio development, and employment opportunities. 12. Supervises students during laboratory activities, CTSO competitions, field experiences, and work-based learning assignments. 13. Participates in CTSO sponsorship and student leadership activities including SkillsUSA and related competitions. 14. Maintains current knowledge of emerging collision repair technologies, electric vehicle repair considerations, manufacturer repair procedures, and industry trends through ongoing professional development, industry engagement, and maintenance of relevant industry credentials and certifications. 15. Participates in curriculum development, program improvement initiatives, advisory committee meetings, and accreditation/accountability processes. 16. Collaborates with counselors, administrators, parents, and business partners to support student success and program growth. 17. Evaluates student performance using classroom assessments, lab performance, industry standards, and employability measures. 18. Assists with recruitment, marketing, and promotional activities for the Collision Repair Technology program. 19. Maintains shop cleanliness, organization, and compliance with district, state, and industry safety standards. 20. Performs other duties as assigned by the CTE Director or Principal.
