03/23/2026-04/08/2026 Description of Assignment The Tri-Tech Auto Body Technology instructor will lead and deliver instruction and coordinate the operation of the Tri-Tech Auto Body Technology program in accordance with Washington State requirements. The program prepares students to be high-performing entry-level collision repair and refinishing technicians for the automotive industry. The program focuses on the fundamentals of non-structural and structural repair, welding specific to auto body, panel replacement, surface preparation, refinishing, estimating, and use of modern shop equipment. The program develops critical thinking, teamwork and leadership skills in an industry-standard lab environment. There is an expectation to work Tri-Tech summer school if offered - approximately 14 days for additional pay. Qualifications Required Possess a Washington State Career and Technical Education Teacher Certificate with an endorsement in Auto Body Technology/Automotive Collision Repair, V470603, (or meet qualifications to obtain one). A requirement for certification includes a minimum of 6,000 hours of documented industry work experience in auto body/collision repair and refinishing. Current or recent (3-5 years) experience in automotive collision repair, refinishing, and related auto body industry work. Proficient in collision repair and refinishing skills including damage analysis, panel repair and replacement, MIG welding in auto body applications, plastic repair, surface preparation, color matching, spray booth operation, and related shop math and measurement. Ability and willingness to be a team player to develop and promote the Tri-Tech Auto Body Technology program. Ability and willingness to develop and implement a work-based learning internship program with local employers, dealerships, and collision centers. Demonstrated punctuality, work attendance record and satisfactory evaluations. Current First Aid Card. Qualifications Preferred Experience in other roles in the automotive service, collision repair, or refinishing career pathway. Evidence of current or recent possession of at least one industry-related certification such asI-CAR, ASE
Collision/Refinishing, or manufacturer-specific collision training. Demonstrated success or training in providing leadership and guidance to the student leadership requirements of the program (e.g., SkillsUSA or similar). Evidence of teacher training or experience which reflects interactive student-centered instruction, using technology and real-world applications to enhance teaching and learning. Evidence of experience working with program advisory committee and community partners (collision centers, dealerships, vendors). Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive, productive learning climate in the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues. Evidence of satisfactory experience in curriculum development, classroom management, and organization for routine detail. Job Description The successful candidate will be expected to: Teach the Tri-Tech Auto Body Technology program in alignment with state-approved course frameworks. Teach and assess safety within the curricular program, including safe operation of collision repair tools, equipment, and refinishing systems. Model lab and industry safety and hold students accountable to safety requirements, including appropriate PPE, uniform requirements and shop procedures. Maintain safe, orderly, and clean lab facilities and equipment that reflect current auto body industry standards. Lead and direct any Auto Body Technology instructional assistant(s) in the planning, coordinating and operation of the Tri-Tech Auto Body Technology program, including supervision and monitoring of student skill development. Prepare students for relevant industry-recognized assessments and credentials (e.g., I-CAR, ASE student certifications, SP2, or equivalent as adopted by the program). Incorporate the work-site learning component into the program; supervise and support student work-based learning opportunities through job shadows and internships with local collision and refinishing employers. Manage related CTE Dual Credit articulation agreements with postsecondary automotive collision/auto body programs, as appropriate. Work with the appropriate advisory committee(s); attend all meetings and implement advisory committee recommendations. Work cooperatively with other staff to align program competencies and expectations with district-approved program standards and state-approved frameworks. Be an advisor and provide opportunities for all students to participate in student leadership activities within the leadership component of the program. This may require hours outside the regular school day. Motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles. Maintain a positive, productive learning climate in the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues. Maintain open communication with parents, students, staff and administration. Believe diversity is a strength and have the attitude that we will meet the needs of any child who enters our school. Participate in the development of curriculum and incorporate technology into the instructional process (estimating software, OEM service information, learning management systems, etc.). Maintain program budget and participate in annual program planning. Coordinate ordering and enforcing professional attire for industry standards, including appropriate shop clothing and PPE. Integrate business and community partnerships to enhance student learning. Be a team player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others. Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education. Be committed to success for all children. Be flexible and cooperative in schedule changes and accommodating changes in facility use. Participate in building-wide programs, including teaching technology, violence prevention, multicultural education, study and social skills and other professional development activities. Participate positively and actively in a professional learning community characterized by collegiality, respect, shared responsibility for student success, and a perpetual focus on student learning. Establish a safe, welcoming, and purposeful learning environment for all students, colleagues, families, and guests. Follow the Tri-Tech Skills Center calendar including first and last days of school, all holidays and breaks, professional development days, conference dates, half days, early releases, late starts, weather delays and cancellations, etc. Use/learn computer technology (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic grading and attendance, email communication, and integration of computer skills into daily classroom instruction). Implement the requirements of IDEA, Section 504, and ADA in the education of students with disabilities. Other duties as assigned.Application Procedure:
