We build quality emergency and government fleet vehicles using quality parts, delivered on time and on budget every time. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, organized, and interested in building vehicles that serve police, fire, EMS, public works, K9, command, and other government fleet operations. We are willing to train the right person, but we also have immediate openings for experienced technicians. Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Occasional Saturdays may be needed depending on project timing. Pay $20-$30 per hour, based on experience, plus commission opportunities. Current commission opportunities may include per-vehicle and efficiency-based plans. Commission plans are subject to change. Responsibilities The Emergency Vehicle Technician will install, wire, mount, troubleshoot, and service equipment on emergency and government vehicles.
Duties may include:
Installing light bars, sirens, radios, consoles, prisoner cages, push bumpers, computer mounts, graphics/decals, K9 inserts, gun racks, and other emergency vehicle equipment Performing clean, safe, and professional 12-volt wiring Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues Following install plans, wiring diagrams, and project instructions Occasionally removing old equipment from vehicles Occasionally performing fabrication or vehicle modifications such as drilling, mounting brackets, cutting panels, or fitting equipment into custom spaces Maintaining an organized work area Working as part of a team to complete projects on time Representing WAC Upfitters professionally around law enforcement, government, and fleet customers Requirements Valid driver's license required Must be able to pass a background check Mechanically inclined and willing to learn Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Able to work in a fast-paced shop with project deadlines Able to take constructive criticism and improve from feedback Able to work with different age groups and personalities Strong work ethic and pride in quality work Team-oriented attitude Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to bend, kneel, climb in and out of vehicles, and work in tight spaces Ability to lift at least 100 lbs Preferred Qualifications Previous emergency vehicle upfitting experience EVT certification 12-volt electrical experience Automotive repair, car audio, fleet, fabrication, or installation experience Ability to read wiring diagrams Experience with clean wiring, equipment mounting, and troubleshooting Tools Personal tools are recommended. WAC Upfitters also offers a tool program. Pay:
