What You Will Be Doing Work as part of the fast-paced DMV Public Service team examining documentation presented in order to issue multiple types of identification documents as well as titles and registrations. This position requires thorough attention to detail and problem solving, reviewing and explaining driving privileges and regulations. You will be responsible for conducting non-commercial, commercial, and motorcycle road tests. The Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 2 (MVCSR will interact directly with the public often times explaining policies, statutes, and regulations. In addition to in-person work, this position does some online processing of other types of work and may field questions from the public over the phone. The Working Environment You Can Expect The position is located in the Bethel City Hall building on Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway, conveniently located next to the City Clerk's office. This position will operate from a dedicated workstation in the public service lobby, serving as the primary point of contact for customers in this one-person office. This role offers a consistent schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, along with opportunities for overtime. While the office is independently operated, the position is well-supported through regular virtual collaboration with a network of rural team members, fostering connection, shared knowledge, and teamwork across communities. Minimum Qualifications Six months of experience licensing, titling, and registering motor vehicles, maintaining driver records, collecting motor vehicle registration taxes, and processing license actions required by traffic laws, financial responsibility and mandatory insurance laws, and judicial suspensions or revocations. This experience is met by service as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere. OR Six months of employment experience as a driving instructor teaching the safe operation of motor vehicles, which included riding with trainees during practice in common traffic situations. OR One year of employment experience performing advanced clerical duties that included significant contact with the public to provide information and assistance concerning the services offered; explaining regulations and varying procedures for different situations; maintaining computerized records; and some purchasing, accounting, or cash handling tasks.Substitution:
Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience. (Three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month.)Special Note:
