Job Title:
Entry-Level Composite Technician - Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Job Description This entry-level Composite Technician role supports the fabrication of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and associated tooling within the unmanned aerial systems and composites industry. You will work hands-on with materials to help build high-quality products in a fast-paced, maker-oriented culture that supports critical defense applications. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with their hands, learning new fabrication techniques, and contributing to innovative aerospace products. Responsibilities + Support the fabrication and assembly of UAV components and tooling. + Read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions to produce accurate composite parts. + Prepare, lay up, and trim composite and fiberglass materials according to established processes. + Handle epoxy and other composite materials safely and accurately, following all handling and curing procedures. + Operate in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality, safety, and attention to detail. + Follow verbal and written instructions from leadership and communicate clearly with peers and supervisors. + Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including a respirator and other safety gear, throughout the workday. + Lift and move materials weighing up to 35 pounds frequently and perform tasks while standing for a full 8-hour shift. + Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to meet schedule, quality, and performance goals. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop and safety standards. Essential Skills + Ability to stand for long periods and work a full 8-hour shift in a fast-paced production environment. + Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and perform repetitive manual tasks. + Ability to wear a respirator and other safety equipment throughout the day. + Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures accurately. + Strong communication skills to work effectively with leadership and peers. + Basic understanding of composite or fiberglass materials and fabrication processes, or a strong interest in learning. + Ability to read and work from basic blueprints or technical drawings. + Willingness and ability to work onsite with no remote option. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Previous composite or fiberglass fabrication experience is a plus. + Experience in UAV/UAS manufacturing is desirable. + Interest in UAS/UAV as a hobby or personal passion is considered an advantage. + Familiarity with composite materials such as fiberglass and epoxy is beneficial. + A 2-year technical degree in a related field is desired but not required. + Flexibility to work both 1st and 2nd shift (approximately 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) if needed is a plus. + Demonstrated reliability and strong work history in manufacturing or hands-on technical roles is valued. Work Environment This is a fully onsite role based in a production facility in Madison, AL, with no remote work option. Work may be scheduled on 1st shift (approximately 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) or 2nd shift (approximately 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.), and flexibility to support either shift when required is beneficial. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Madison, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
