Job Description

Auburn Lake Trails is located in Cool, CA 95614 Mechanic (vehicles, small equipment, tractors, etc.)
DEFINITION
Under limited supervision, a skilled level position which involves duties to be performed either as a crew member or alone. Performs skilled tasks in repair, maintenance and improvements of Association property, common areas, equipment, tools and buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following, other related duties may be assigned. Duties are performed in a professional and courteous manner to promote positive public relations. Requisitions supplies and materials and is able to prepare estimates and cost analysis for specific projects. General Requirements Responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs and cleanliness of equipment and vehicles. Employee returns equipment to the designated location. Checks fluid levels and inspects all safety features prior to operation. Orders parts for vehicles, tools and equipment. Maintains a clean and orderly work area within the maintenance department and in the field. May be required to utilize computer to generate spreadsheets and use databases. Employee will install and program irrigation controls, alarm systems, telephone systems, and other electronic systems. Determines scope of work required, materials and equipment to be used for projects. May assist workers engaged in performing repair and replacement of materials and equipment mentioned above. Also assists in cleaning and upkeep of buildings, furniture moving, storage of materials and supplies, and may inspect work to ensure conformance with plans and specifications. May generate bid proposal documents and communicate with providers soliciting bids. Establishes work procedures and suggests changes in procedures and conditions and use of equipment to ensure efficiency.

SAFETY:
The employee is responsible to be familiar with all safety features of equipment associated with the duties as described above and to use the equipment in the prescribed manner and to report all incidents to his/her supervisor. Responsible for reading, understanding and following safety requirements contained in all manuals. Is required to train employees and document training in regards to safe and proper use of equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Experience:
Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or a technical school, and six years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interrupt documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, Ability to effectively speak before groups of members or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, volume and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
To apply common sense understanding, carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. The employee is expected to complete work with deadlines, to be alert and able to concentrate, and recall details. Work involves conclusions and problem solving based on practical application of established procedures and policies.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Valid California driver's license in good standing. Medium Duty equipment operator certificates preferred. Ability to drive a snowplow and sanding unit in adverse weather conditions.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of standard maintenance practices. Knowledge of the operation of a variety of mowers and other equipment as well as assorted power and hand tools. Computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software programs. Establish and maintain effective working relations with staff and members. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Speak and write clearly, concisely, and effectively. Ability to follow instructions and exercise common sense and good judgment. Knowledge of public relations and member service skills. Knowledge of proper radio communication skills and procedures. Interpret laws, rules, and regulations. Must have the ability to follow all current departmental orders, directives, policies, and memorandums. Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. Expeditiously gain knowledge of all roadways and buildings controlled by the Association. Ability to think clearly and carry out special assignments during emergencies.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance & close up vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. May work outside in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate but at times loud.
Pay:
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour
