This position is ideal for someone who enjoys inspections, diagnostics, and helping customers understand the condition of their vehicles. This role goes beyond simply performing smog tests. You'll be responsible for conducting comprehensive digital vehicle inspections, documenting findings through Tekmetric, performing light to moderate automotive repairs, and helping maintain the high level of service our customers have come to expect. Because our shop operates on a fully digital platform, strong computer skills and the ability to work efficiently within Tekmetric are essential. What You'll Be Doing Perform California Smog Inspections on vehicles 2000 and newer Complete detailed Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVIs) using Tekmetric Inspect vehicles for safety, maintenance needs, and overall condition Document findings with photos, notes, and recommendations Perform automotive repair and maintenance work as needed Utilize diagnostic equipment and hand tools to identify vehicle concerns Assist with emissions-related diagnostics and repairs Maintain accurate digital records of inspections, repairs, and test results Communicate inspection findings clearly with service advisors and customers Follow all BAR regulations, shop procedures, and safety standards RequirementsRequired Current California Smog License Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (No SR-22) Must provide your own automotive tools Strong automotive repair knowledge Strong computer skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to safely lift and move automotive components when necessary Preferred Smog Check Repair License Previous experience performing Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVIs) Experience using Tekmetric ( a major plus ) Diagnostic experience ASE Certifications Automotive repair experience Important Position Details This is a dual-role position. While smog inspections will be a primary responsibility, there will be periods when smog traffic is slow. During those times, technicians will be expected to assist with automotive repair and maintenance work throughout the shop. Applicants should be comfortable performing repairs and diagnostics in addition to smog testing and inspections. Personal tools are required for this position.
