Carbon Activated Corporation About Carbon Activated Corporation Carbon Activated Corporation is a leading manufacturer and supplier of activated carbon products and related services for environmental, industrial, air, water, and specialty applications. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment and facility systems in a fast-paced industrial environment. Position Summary The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving mechanical systems and equipment throughout the facility. This role supports production uptime by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and responding to mechanical breakdowns involving material handling systems, conveyors, pumps, motors, blowers, piping, valves, rotating equipment, and other industrial machinery. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, hands-on, and comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment and facility systems Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures on conveyors, motors, pumps, blowers, valves, piping systems, dust collection systems, pneumatic systems, and material handling equipment Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform root cause analysis to minimize downtime Assist with maintenance of rotary kilns, thermal equipment, screening equipment, and carbon processing systems Replace bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, seals, gearboxes, motors, and mechanical components as needed Perform welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding, and general shop repairs (preferred) Install and modify equipment as part of facility improvements or expansion projects Maintain forklifts, loading systems, and plant support equipment as needed Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain safe work practices Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, drawings, and maintenance documentation Maintain maintenance logs and communicate repair status to supervisors Respond to emergency maintenance issues as required Maintain a clean and organized work environment Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, maintenance mechanic, millwright, or industrial mechanic in a manufacturing, industrial, mining, chemical, recycling, or processing environment preferred Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability Experience with conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred Familiarity with industrial electrical troubleshooting is a plus (not required) Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and shop machinery Forklift experience preferred Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and maintenance best practices Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance tasks Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in industrial conditions Comfortable working around dust, heat, noise, and outdoor environments Ability to wear required PPE including respirators, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots Work Environment This position operates in an industrial activated carbon manufacturing and processing environment. Work may include exposure to dust, moving mechanical equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and outdoor weather conditions.
