About the
Role:
The Lube Technician plays a critical role in ensuring vehicles receive timely and efficient maintenance services, primarily focusing on lubrication and basic automotive care. This position is essential in maintaining vehicle performance, safety, and longevity by performing oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements. The Lube Tech will work closely with customers to understand their vehicle needs and provide excellent service that fosters trust and repeat business. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent mechanical issues and ensure a smooth workflow. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall customer satisfaction and operational success of the retail automotive service center.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of automotive maintenance and lubrication procedures. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, M1 highly preferred. Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions including standing, bending, and kneeling.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Lube Technician, Motorcycle technician, or equivalent. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or equivalent. Familiarity with computerized service systems and vehicle diagnostic tools. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine vehicle maintenance services including oil and filter changes, lubrication, and fluid level checks. Inspect vehicles for potential issues such as leaks, worn belts, and tire condition, and report findings to the service manager. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained. Communicate effectively with customers to explain services performed and recommend additional maintenance when necessary. Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for self and colleagues.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Lube Technician to perform essential maintenance tasks efficiently and safely, ensuring vehicles are serviced to manufacturer standards. Proficiency with hand and power tools is used daily to complete oil changes, lubrication, and inspections accurately. Strong communication skills help in explaining services to customers and collaborating with team members to address vehicle concerns. Preferred skills such as ASE certification and experience with diagnostic tools enhance the technician's ability to identify and resolve issues beyond basic maintenance. Together, these skills ensure high-quality service delivery, customer satisfaction, and contribute to the smooth operation of the service center. Tools will be provided.
