This position is responsible for managing daily shop workflow, coordinating repairs, maintaining technician productivity, ordering parts, and ensuring vehicles are repaired efficiently and cost-effectively. The ideal candidate is highly organized, understands automotive repair and diagnostics, can manage multiple priorities, and is comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the service and reconditioning department Assign and prioritize repair orders to technicians Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and quality of work Schedule technicians and coordinate workload to maximize shop throughput Diagnose repair needs and determine appropriate repair strategies Approve repair recommendations and ensure cost-effective repair decisions Order parts and manage vendor relationships Track parts status and ensure timely delivery to avoid delays Maintain repair timelines and ensure vehicles are completed on schedule Communicate repair status with management and sales staff Review repair estimates and control shop expenses Ensure vehicles meet company quality standards before completion Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safety standards Manage outside vendors and subcontractors when necessary Help develop processes that improve efficiency and profitability Qualifications Previous experience as an Automotive Shop Manager, Service Manager, Service Advisor, or Lead Technician Strong automotive repair knowledge and diagnostic experience Ability to manage technicians and maintain accountability Experience ordering parts and working with automotive vendors Understanding of labor times, repair costs, and shop efficiency metrics Strong organizational and leadership skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects Valid driver's license with clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Used car reconditioning experience Dealership or independent repair shop management experience Experience with inventory management and repair tracking systems ASE certifications are a plus Compensation Competitive salary based on experience Performance bonuses available Paid vacation Health benefits available Opportunity for advancement within a growing dealership group About North State Auto North State Auto is a high-volume independent dealership focused on providing quality vehicles and exceptional customer service.
