Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
Mile High Classics is a full-service classic car restoration shop in Denver specializing in American classics from the 1950s through the 1990s. We handle everything under one roof—mechanical, body and paint, upholstery, fabrication, and electrical—and we do it at a level our clients trust with their most prized vehicles. We're looking for a skilled Mechanic/Fabricator who takes pride in doing things right the first time. Someone who can diagnose a problem without throwing parts at it, fabricate a solution when the catalog comes up empty, and deliver work that holds up to close inspection. If you're the kind of technician who treats every car like it's your own, keep reading. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Your mission is straightforward: complete mechanical and fabrication projects within budget at world-class quality. That means:
Perform full mechanical restoration work including engine rebuilds, drivetrain repair, brake systems, suspension, cooling, fuel systems, and general mechanical service on classic vehicles. Fabricate custom brackets, mounts, panels, and components using MIG/TIG welding, plasma cutting, and metal shaping when OEM parts are unavailable or custom work is required. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently—finding root causes, not guessing. Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and fabrication specs. Document your work with accurate time tracking, progress photos, and notes on any deviations from the original scope. Collaborate with body, paint, upholstery, and electrical departments to keep multi-phase projects moving smoothly. Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow all shop safety protocols. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
We're not a flat-rate production shop—but we are a results-driven one. We measure performance, and we reward it. Here's what we expect from someone excelling in this role: High utilization. You stay productive during your scheduled hours. We don't micromanage, but we do expect focused, revenue-generating work when you're on the clock. Near-zero rework. Your work passes inspection the first time. Comebacks and quality issues are the rare exception, not the norm. We're building a reputation for world-class craftsmanship, and every vehicle that rolls out reflects that. Budget discipline. You complete work within the estimated hours and raise your hand early when a project reveals something unexpected. No silent overruns. Reliable timelines. When you commit to a milestone, you hit it. When you can't, you communicate before the deadline, not after. Thorough documentation. Time logs, photos, and notes are complete and accurate. This protects you, the shop, and the client. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Skills & Experience Proven experience in automotive mechanical repair and restoration, preferably on classic American vehicles. Demonstrated fabrication ability:
MIG/TIG welding, plasma cutting, metal shaping, and custom component creation. Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Proficient with common shop equipment:
lifts, press, lathe, bead roller, English wheel, and pneumatic tools. Comprehensive personal tool set. Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. The Right Mindset Ownership mentality—you treat every project like it's your own car. Detail-obsessed. Fitment, alignment, torque specs, and finish quality all matter to you. Comfortable with uncertainty. Classic restoration is unpredictable; you thrive when a project throws a curveball. Proactive communicator. You speak up early when something isn't right rather than absorbing the problem. Self-directed and productive without constant supervision. Team-oriented—willing to help across departments and share knowledge freely. Committed to continuous improvement in your craft. WHY MILE HIGH CLASSICS
We built this shop for people who love what they do and want to be proud of the work. Here's what that looks like day to day: Stable, Competitive Pay Competitive hourly rate plus performance bonuses tied to real results. No flat-rate gamble—your paycheck is consistent, and your effort is rewarded on top of it. Work That Matters Frame-off restorations, LS swaps, custom fabrication, and performance builds. No oil changes, no brake-pad factories. You'll work on cars worth working on. Professional Environment Clean, organized, well-equipped shop with quality tooling. We invest in the facility so you can focus on the craft. Room to Grow We're growing, and talented people who demonstrate craftsmanship and leadership will have opportunities to move into lead and supervisory roles. HOW TO APPLY
