The incumbent performs the full range of mechanical repairs, services and adjustments to a wide variety of fleet vehicles, performs preventive maintenance and installs and removes police emergency equipment and accessories. Performs the full range of repairs, services and adjustments to a wide range of fleet vehicles including trucks, vans, buses, special bomb and hazm vehicles, light towers, message centers, trailers and all United Stes Capitol Police (USCP) equipment. Duties include diagnosing and performing repairs to electrical and ignition, heing and air conditioning, steering and suspension, wheels, axles and brakes, engines and transmissions, and fuel and injection systems and reviewing completed work for quality. Uses a wide variety of test equipment to trace, diagnose, and loce defects and determine the type and extent of repairs required and disassembles, inspects and rebuilds components in completing tasks. Serves as primary installer, repair and service mechanic for fleet emergency equipment including emergency lighting, mobile telephones, sirens, radios, shot gun racks, alarm systems, and switch panels. Performs preventive maintenance and service inspections. Performs extensive repair of bicycles. Requirements Help Conditions of employment You must be a U.S. citizen.
