Job Description

Help keep Lee County's Public Safety operations running safely, reliably, and efficiently. As a Technician with Lee County Fleet Management, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing the vehicles and equipment that first responders and essential service teams rely on every day. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, diagnostics, and collaborating with a dedicated team to ensure our Public Safety fleet operates at the highest standards. What You Will Do Do daily checks on County vehicles and equipment. Find and fix problems on gasoline and diesel engines. Work on brakes, drive trains, suspension, steering, and electrical systems. Repair heating, air conditioning (HVAC), and hydraulic systems. Complete routine maintenance like oil changes, lubrication, brake service, tune-ups, and cooling system work. Process work orders, plan repair priorities, and help manage the daily shop workload. Use diagnostic tools such as FDRS, Xentry, and other scan tools. Help guide less experienced staff when needed. You will work on Public Safety Vehicles and equipment, including brands such as Fords, John Deere, Polaris, and Mercedes. What You Need Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: Education High school diploma or GED. Experience Two years of experience repairing light-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, gas and diesel engines are required (over 5 years of experience are preferred). Experience with gasoline and diesel engines and doing detailed mechanical repairs. Licenses A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. ASE certifications are preferred but not required.
