LEAD MECHANIC - JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: Grounds Supervisor and Executive Director |

Full-Time, Non-Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibility of Lead Mechanic is to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair golf carts as well as all onsite work vehicles, including garbage trucks, utility vehicles, maintenance automobiles, and related equipment. This role emphasizes high-quality workmanship, safety, and operational efficiency while ensuring all equipment is serviced in accordance with established maintenance schedules. The Mechanic is expected to demonstrate a proactive, positive attitude and perform all duties in accordance with company standards, safety regulations, and service expectations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and research performance issues related to golf carts, garbage trucks, and all onsite work vehicles, often working in conjunction with experienced technicians, manufacturers, and vendors Create repair plans and execute mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance repairs Repair and service golf carts and fleet vehicles, including but not limited to: o Motors, engines, solenoids, axles, brakes, suspension components, and steering systems Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs, including tracing wiring, rewiring, repairing chargers, batteries, lighting systems, and onboard electrical components Perform preventative maintenance inspections on garbage trucks and work vehicles to ensure operational safety and compliance Inspect, repair, and replace tires on golf carts and fleet vehicles Suggest additional service work and accessories when appropriate Provide clear and timely written documentation of work performed, parts used, and pricing on service work forms Manage parts inventory and maintain optimal stock levels Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement options Maintain a clean, safe, and organized service area Operate company and personal vehicles safely and in compliance with company policies and traffic laws Deliver internal customer service consistent with the Guiding Principles of Mahaffey Apartment Company Perform hydraulic system removal, teardown, inspection, repair, and rebuild on golf carts and onsite fleet vehicles to ensure safe, reliable operation. Maintain a valid driver's license, insurance coverage, and a good driving record Comply with all Fair Housing laws and company policies at all times Provide own dependable transportation and personal tools (fuel/vehicle allowance provided if personal vehicle is used) Perform other job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Professional experience repairing both older and newer golf carts (E-Z-GO, Yamaha, Club Car, ICON, Excel) Experience or demonstrated ability to repair and maintain: o Garbage trucks o Utility vehicles o Maintenance trucks and other onsite fleet vehicles Strong mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications Ability to communicate professionally in writing and verbally Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment and decision-making Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to adapt communication style for a variety of internal and external audiences Familiarity with Click & Comply / Leonardo 247 and RealPage preferred
REQUIRED & PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS / QUALIFICATIONS

Equipment Used:
ASE Certification (Medium/Heavy Truck or Automotive) Battery & Electric Vehicle Systems Training (for electric carts and vehicles) DOT Vehicle Inspection Certification (preferred for garbage truck servicing) Hydraulic Systems Training or Certification Forklift or Powered Industrial Vehicle Certification OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Safety Training - preferred) CDL (Commercial Driver's License) - preferred, not required , depending on vehicle operation needs

Company may provide or require specific certifications after hire based on operational needs.

POSITION SPECIFICS & BENEFITS
Full-time position; Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 96 hours PTO accrued each year for first two years of service 136 hours of PTO each year after two years and above 176 hours of PTO accrued each year after 7 years of service 401K with 3% Employer Contribution Health/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance available after 30-day waiting period Good background required 90-day probationary period
