Trailer Technician

Trailer Technician Job Summary:

Trailer technicians are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing the customer's equipment, whether it be trailers, dollies, or switchers. Technicians play a critical role in maintaining compliance, safety, and reliability of the company and the equipment that is repaired. This role is mainly independent work in a fast-paced, fleet maintenance environment, including peak and high-demand periods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnosing equipment, including brakes, suspension, landing gear, doors, lights, etc.
• Pulling equipment into the shop as well as parking it in the yard
• Performing PM inspections according to DOT guidelines
• Documenting repairs, parts usage, and labor, including providing pictures as well as accurate descriptions for each repair
• Responding to road calls on an as-needed basis
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Communicating with shop managers/supervisors on repair statuses, parts requests, as well as any other items that need addressed
• Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and equipment readiness

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be able to pass a background check
• 1-3+ years of mechanic/vehicle maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work under trailers
• Comfortable working in outdoor conditions

Compensation and Benefits:

• Weekly, flat-rate pay based on billed hours after an up to 90 day probation period for training
