Job Description
European Automotive Technician Import Auto Repair - Alpharetta, GA Monday-Friday No Weekends $70,000-$120,000+ If you are the kind of technician who likes figuring out the cars other shops give up on, Import Auto Repair may be the place for you. We are a 32-year independent import repair shop in Alpharetta, GA, with a strong reputation for European testing, evaluation, and repair. We work heavily on BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, and other high-end imports, along with Lexus, Infiniti, and select luxury Asian vehicles. About 70% of our work is European, and we are known as the shop other shops trust when the problem is not obvious. This is not a quick-lube environment, and it is not a place where technicians are left to struggle without support. We have a strong shop foreman, a team that helps each other, and more than 100 specialty tools and pieces of testing equipment in-house. We want to add an experienced technician who can contribute at a high level, keep growing, and be part of a team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously. What It's Like Here Our shop is laid back, honest, and team-oriented. The guys joke around, help each other, and know how to have fun during the day, but the work still matters. We have high expectations because our customers trust us with complex vehicles and our reputation was built on doing things right. We do not micromanage. We give technicians the resources, tools, training, and support they need, then expect them to communicate, take ownership, and keep improving.
Our core values are simple:
expertise, transparency, and care. That applies to our customers, our process, and the way we treat each other. What We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced technician with a strong background in European vehicles. You do not need to be perfect, and you do not need to know everything, but you do need to have real experience with Euro testing, evaluation, and repair. This role is a great fit for someone who can diagnose difficult vehicle concerns, work independently on most repairs, communicate clearly, and still be humble enough to collaborate with the team when needed. You may be a fit if you have: 5+ years of experience working on European vehicles Strong experience with BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, or similar imports Solid testing and evaluation skills Comfort with drivability, electrical, and complex vehicle concerns A team-first attitude A valid driver's license The ability to pass a background check A good sense of humor, and a willingness to help others This position is best suited for an advanced European technician or diagnostic-focused technician who is confident with mechanical repair, electrical testing, drivability concerns, and building a testing strategy from scan data and real test results. The work mix is roughly 50% mechanical repair, 30% testing/evaluation, and 20% maintenance. You'll still turn wrenches, but we need someone who can think through the harder problems too. You should be comfortable using scan data, wiring diagrams, DVOM testing, bi-directional controls, and real testing procedures to support your repair decisions. Experience with network communication issues, module diagnostics, drivability concerns, intermittent problems, oscilloscopes, or pressure transducers is a strong plus. Pay Compensation depends on experience and ability. Realistic annual range $90,000-$120,000+ Pay is structured as a set salary plus weekly bonus. Benefits and Perks We believe people should have a life outside of work, and we build the schedule around that.
Benefits include:
Monday-Friday schedule No weekends Workday ends at 5:00 PM 1-hour lunch 50% reimbursement toward individual marketplace health insurance premium, up to a silver plan 80 hours PTO Paid major holidays 3% IRA match $2,000 signing bonus after 90 days Uniforms provided at no cost Monthly catered lunch on the last Friday of the month Specialty tools, scan tools, software, timing tools, and equipment provided Training opportunities through The Institute, Automotive Excellence, SSF, and online training resources Travel and lodging paid for select training events Heated shop with swamp coolers in the bays Break room with microwave, fridge, water, and Gatorade Tools and Equipment You bring your basic tools. We provide the specialty equipment. Our shop has scan tools, timing tools, a YF machine, specialty Euro tools, diagnostic equipment, software, and more than 100 specialty tools in-house. We invest in what the team needs to do the job right. Why This Role Matters We are growing, and we want to add another technician who can help us continue building the kind of shop where the team grows together. Our shop foreman is an excellent technical resource, and we want someone who can both learn from that environment and bring their own experience to the table. The goal is not to hire a warm body. The goal is to find the right person who can handle complex Euro work, communicate well, and be part of the team long term. If you are tired of being rushed, unsupported, or stuck in a shop that does not invest in tools, training, or quality work, this may be the move you have been looking for. About Import Auto Repair Import Auto Repair has been serving Alpharetta for 32 years. We are one of the shops other shops turn to for difficult import problems, and we are one of only a few shops in Georgia rebuilding certain Land Rover 5.0 and Audi 2.0 engines in-house. We are proud of the reputation we have built, but we are just as proud of the team behind it. Our atmosphere, morale, and willingness to help each other are what make this place different. If you are an experienced European technician looking for a shop where you can do challenging work, keep learning, and still have your evenings and weekends, we would like to talk. Questions?
