Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Auto Mechanic / Maintenance technician to join our team. In this vital role, you will perform comprehensive vehicle repairs and maintenance to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance. Your expertise will help support our fleet operations and serve our community by keeping vehicles in top condition. Qualifications Knowledge and hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance. Basic knowledge of general maintenance practices, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, tools, equipment, and building systems. Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vehicles, facilities, equipment, and work areas in a safe and timely manner. Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift and move materials, operate tools and equipment, and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions. Strong time management, problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, teamwork, and organizational skills. Must demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work environment. Must complete a criminal background check.
Job Responsibilities:
The Auto Mechanic and General Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining and repairing organizational vehicles, facilities, tools, equipment, and work areas. This role performs automotive diagnostics and repairs, preventive maintenance, facility repairs, safety inspections, inventory support, and emergency response duties to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations. Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair organizational vehicles, including mechanical, electrical, brake, steering, suspension, engine, transmission, and fuel system concerns. Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil and filter changes, fluid checks, tire inspections, battery service, brake service, tune-ups, lubrication, and other preventive maintenance as needed. Conduct quality checks, road tests, and final inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for use. Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, parts usage, compliance, and vehicle history. Respond to vehicle breakdowns, roadside needs, accidents, and urgent repair issues as assigned, including occasional on-call support when required. Complete general facility maintenance and repairs, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, lighting, furniture assembly, leaks, and other building-related repairs. Assist with inspections and basic checks of HVAC, kitchen equipment, building equipment, and other general equipment to ensure safe and proper operation. Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, facilities, tools, and equipment to identify minor issues before they become major problems. Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, applicable transportation requirements, DOT requirements, environmental guidelines, and organizational policies. Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, repair materials, parts, inventory, maintenance areas, and the maintenance building in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Assist with purchasing repair materials, parts, tools, and supplies in accordance with need, budget, and proper approval procedures. Complete work orders promptly, communicate repair needs and purchases to leadership, and follow up on completed maintenance and repair work. Conduct scheduled safety inspections and regular assessments to identify needed repairs, replacements, and improvements. Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
