"Pioneering Excellence in Vehicle Service" The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) is hiring an Assistant Chief of Automotive Equipment Service II to assist in administering the division's programs and activities in the following areas: Administrative Office, Storeroom Operations, Vehicle/Equipment Support Services & Repair/Maintenance Functions. What You'll Do Assist in managing division operations: Supports the Chief in planning, coordinating, and directing maintenance, repair, and inspection activities for a large fleet of light, medium, and heavy vehicles and construction equipment.
Oversee fleet programs and compliance:
Reviews and evaluates operational procedures, ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and develop methods to monitor cost efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide leadership and supervision:
Conducts meetings, resolves operational and personnel issues, evaluates staff performance, and ensures consistent application of department policies.
Support budget and procurement activities:
Assists in preparing operating and CIP budgets, manage expenditures for tools, materials, and supplies, and review specifications for new or replacement vehicles and equipment. Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in business administration, public administration or a related field.
Substitution :
Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
For example:
Four (4) years of professional work experience, in any occupation, may substitute for a general bachelor's degree. F our (4) years of general work experience (does not need to be professional level experience) in automotive fleet management and maintenance (e.g., Heavy Vehicle Repair Supervisor or equivalent) may substitute for a general bachelor's degree. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
: Three (3) years of managerial or supervisory experience in the purchase, repair, maintenance and overhaul of a variety of light, medium and heavy gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel automotive equipment. Such experience must demonstrate knowledge of : principles and practices of public administration, supervision/management, and personnel administration; program planning and evaluation techniques; fleet management trends, new developments in motorized equipment, common practices and procedures in motor vehicle management; and automotive and construction equipment design and specifications, safety precautions. Such experience must also demonstrate the ability to : plan, direct, coordinate, review and evaluate work of subordinates; interpret, develop and implement policies, standards, procedures, goals and objectives and make sound administrative decisions; prepare specifications for various specialized equipment such as refuse trucks, construction equipment, etc.; develop and execute a preventive maintenance program for motorized equipment; prepare budget estimates; communicate effectively with groups or individuals, both orally and in writing; prepare concise but comprehensive reports and correspondence; and deal tactfully and effectively with employees and the public.
